Recently I don't get much time to play and I stick with my CN9-YLW and HBK-4P(c) almost exclusively. I only every drop solo queue and I'm a middling pilot - more of a "has been" as my skills have been deteriorating with lack of practices.

I rarely if ever break out one of my Clan mechs (I mostly purchased them to support PGI), but yesterday I thought I'd give my SCR-PRIME(I) a go just for kicks. The result (below) was, what I can only explain as unexpected. My questions is: are Stormcrows just this good, Cents or Hunchies that bad, or what?

Looks above average, good job. Looks like your team was rounded out decently enough.

Knowing your builds etc would be helpful. Also one game is too small a sample size to say is X mech better then Y mech.
Its also build styles, teams etc. Perhaps the Crow was built more in-line with your game play style? Perhaps it was a long/mid range game where clans excel and IS AC20 IS mediums fail.

The crows are good mechs and very popular. That said, Id rather the CN9-YLW or hunchie. But thats just me a Steiner pilot.

If you are that good or the enemy that derpy it can work wonders due to relative small size, high speed, agility and packing a punch a mule wouldn´t think to scoff at .

So, shortly said, YES, it´s a good mech .
One out of the 4 good chassis the clans actually have ....

They're considered one of the (if not, THE) best mechs in the game for a reason.

It was a good match but not impressive. Nothing you can't do with IS mechs.

Here's the build I was using: SCR-PRIME.

It was a brawl on River City Night.

Sure, good for you. As I mentioned, I play Cents and Hunchie frequently and I don't get games like this.

As a note, I've played two additional games in the SCR and I've come out on top both times. This mech is incredible.

And lo and behold you are on the way to understand why experienced IS players sneer at the clam forum agenda to nerf any mech into the ground that even remotely approaches TimberDerp or DerpCrow level.

And now you understand why I always laugh about apologists like Gyrok who spew out idiocies like:
Splatcrow = SplatCat

How you build your Cent/Hunch?

Tell me which IS mech can mount five SSRM6s - I'll buy that thing right now.

Sorry dude, I love my clan mechs like hell even though at the moment I play IS in CW, but that post is massively disingenuous.

There is no easy comparison between direct-fire SRMs and homing larger-than-2 clan SSRMs. They both require aim - the one to shoot and the other to get and hold a lock. But the streaks then follow the target, and while terrain will block them terrain blocks SRMS too.

Too lazy to reply? More like too lazy to formulate a coherant, thoughtful post.

As someone else who played nothing but IS until I got a free stormcrow-A, I was amazed that my damage and kills went up so much in that thing.

The stormcrow has great firepower, is versatile at almost any range and can be modified to about any play style. I enjoy mine with 3x MPL and 4x 6 Streaks.

I played a centurion as my IS medium for a long time. Now my poor Cent collects dust.

SCR is one of the best mediums, but still will get a bloody nose against a competent opponent of a higher wight class, e.g. Timberwolf, or Thunderbolt.

Laser vomit builds tend to fire high alpha, but you can't alpha more then 2 times without overheating. SSRM-boats are for trolling lights, but against heavy or assault mech or multiple overlapping ECMs you will have problems. SRM boats are quite frightening in brawling, if you have the chance to get into range.

My fav. SCR is 4xSRM4+A + 4xERMLL ... some brawling ... some range ... can handle well any situation.

The main problem with IS mediums is that they either lack range or high alpha. SCR can bring both.

For people that can't aim with SRMs, SSRM4 or 6 must be an impressive update. However, SSRMs need lock time. Lock time mean you need to stare the enemy. Staring the enemy means getting cored quite fast. The SCR has some good hitboxes and can spread damage by torso twisting quite well.

However, smart opponents go for the SRC's legs anyway because the SCRs best defense is their speed and mobility.

That's adorable: with an SSRM, you don't have to.

Yeah in my SCR-Prime I can troll all day at longer range, ducking behind cover and generally being a deadly nuisance. In my HBK-4P I have to get much closer to work effectively. The SCR-Prime on the other hand does less well when you're in closer, because it will get focus fired and it will overheat if it tries puking on everybody all at once. I love taking the 4P into a knife fight, the SCR not so much.

Different strokes, you know? I love them bob as they were my two first mechs, but they excel at somewhat different things.

It's about hitting certain locations and not spreading damage everywhere. You can ignore SRM spread at close range. On the other hand, try to take out legs with SSRM. ;) SSRM lose effect the more tonnage your target has.

Just because Dawnstealer doesn't get it, hitting a target is the first task to archive and for beginners it's something good. But finally you have to focus your damage to take out targets fast. Something SSRM can't do unless you target Light mechs.
