Hi.

Previously I played MWO on three 24" monitors running at 1920x1200 resulting in a resolution of 6048x1200 (bezelcompensated).
One of my monitors decided to retire (poof) and I had to either get a replacement 24" monitor or rethink my setup.
The result was a 34" Ultrawide monitor running 3440x1440 resolution.

When I started playing on my new monitor I suddenly saw something that I never noticed when I ran the game in Eyefinity.
The overheat "effect" only extends to the standard(s) of 16:9, 16:10, 4:3 or 5:4 aspect ratios.
My current aspect ratio is 21:9 which means that when I overheat the "red flimmer" on my screen actually only effects part of my screen not the entire screen.
I never noticed this on my eyefinity setup possibly because I used three monitors which makes you focus on the center monitor while the left and right monitors grant you "periferal sight".
I guess the effect actually was active only on my center monitor.
Someone else running Eyefinity or Surround could verify this.

In any case it's happening on my ultrawide 34" 21:9 aspect ratio monitor now.

I know this is a minor thing compared to many issues but I figured I'd let it out of the box, mainly for PGI to look into and see if there might be an easy patch or tweak to make that effect use the whole screen instead of only part of the screen.

The effect I'm talking about can clearly be seen in this video at 3:05.

Check it out and thanks in advance.

Greetings,

The 'effect' your mentioning is confined to only the HUD display area.
- watching the video it's clearly indicated to only effect to the borders of the Pilots overlay HUD.

This warning indicator would be displayed inside the Pilots helmet and not a lighting effect throughout the entire cockpit.
- Even when you use zoom levels, the HUD stays at the same aspect ratio locations.

So, it's not anything broken, it's a feature of the HUD and how/ where it's displayed.

While it looks awkward on your stream, I think this setup may be better from a usability standpoint. You get the important HUD info closer to the middle of the screen where it is easy to quickly glance at it. If the corner items were moved out on a 21:9 screen, it would be pretty painful to view them. The overheat effect should cover the entire screen, and consumable info should be at the top or bottom of the screen, but it is OK otherwise.
