A cosmetic suggestion; what are the chances of appending some gender-inclusive custom titles and getting into the Amazonian spirit? For example:

Get X assists in a heavy mech
1/50/500/2,500/10,000/20,000
Titles: Big Brother/Big Sister, Heavy Lifter

Get X assists in an assault mech
1/50/500/2,500/10,000/20,000
Titles: Giant Helper, Big Daddy/Big Mama

Seriously? With everything that needs fixing in the game, and all the new content that needs to be added, you're asking PGI to focus on gender inclusion? You are either an epic troll or the world's most laughably unfocused MWO pilot.

Frankly, I don't think that this is necessary. It's nothing more than a vanity issue for a few people. Let PGI focus on what's important, like fixing hit reg, clipping, JJs, weapon balance, geometries, CW, and the UI; as well as adding new weapons, maps, and Mechs.

to be fair, unlike the collision issues, ammo switching problems, and borked dynamic geometry, this does seem to be a problem PGI has staff capable of fixing.

This seems like it'd be very quick and easy to add to the game.

yes. why? because of the word "inclusion". we need more people playing the game. if you make others feel welcome, they invite their friends, who invite more friends. its a simple request, and a simple task to finish in a matter of minutes. there are far more players in the game of different gender types than you think nightmare1, they deserve to be acknowledged for the work they have done with betas, community communication, and just plain pug dropping against you day after day.

unless pgi has like five people left working at it i don't think everyone has to down tools on maps, mechs, weapons and gamebreaking bugs to make another title

I don't know of a single person who would avoid playing a game simply because they dislike an optional title.

Shoot, just because there's a "Bridesmaid" doesn't make me feel entitled to a "Groom's Man" title. Folks need to quit being so easily distracted by useless side issues and focus on what's really important. Game bugs and lack of content will do more to encourage or discourage new players from joining far more than any silly vanity title.

That doesn't make it any less of a waste of time and resources.

What's really important... is community. Which... would be a hilarious thing to hear me say out in the real world... (I'm a basically a hermit, never even met my next door neighbors XD)

Either way, the shittiest game in the world can be a blast if the right people are playing it. And this game develops a lot based on input from the community. No, no one is going to stop, or start playing a game based on the titles handed out. But you need to realize, there are women who play the game as well.

How would you feel if EVERY title was female oriented? Hmmm? It may not make you quit, but it would make you feel less included, more estranged, to one degree or another.

As for Bridesmaid... that's a joke :P Always a Bridesmaid, never the Bride. Groomsman has no such equivalent to the best of my knowledge.

Either way, if you don't agree with it, that's fine, your opinion has been voiced. But there's no need to be rude about it. We all rate the importance of things differently. An easily remedied slight to a portion of the community, while not the most game breaking thing, should be addressed promptly.

Not being rude, just scratching my head in bewilderment as to why people think we need to pander to women with vanity titles when there are only three gender specific titles in the game. The rest are all neutral. Three titles, in a 1v2 split, is hardly discriminatory, nor is it worth losing sleep over. The fact that this thread even exists bewilders me. Can people be so petty over something so vain that they are willing to re-task resources to address a non-issue instead of spending those resources on solving vital problems?

Worry about gender titles after the game is fixed and in good health. Right now, it is moving along at a broken trot. No need to weigh it down by saddling the devs with fluff requests.

...And like I said and you admitted, it's not enough of an issue to drive people away from the game or make them start playing it. As such, it's not an issue at all, and it's pointless to make it into one. The next thing you know, people will be complaining because they want the gender specific titles to discriminate between their respective genders and apply the appropriate type. Then all the non-genders will want titles. It's an entire can of worms and a potential PR nightmare for PGI. They'd be smart not to touch it and to just leave it lie as it is.

Any further commenting on this thread is a waste of time, in my opinion.

As much as I do appreciate equal rights and such (which I do! this isn't sarcasm)

The problem here is that this is using the sayings/ terms/ meanings of "big brother".

Big sister makes no sense in this context.

Also Big Daddy and Big Mama are, in a simular way, different.

However I can imagine a different simular achievement with an assault to get a "big mama". For eg instead of kill assists it's say spotting assists, or what have you...

(also what "mama" do we use?

Mumma, Momma, Mamma, Mummy, Muma, Moma, Mama, Mumy ?)

Edit: Also the context of Big Brother doesn't mean male or female to begin with. Only if you anilise the worse separately. a "big Brother" is typically a monitoring system. "big brother is watching you" symbolizes the goverment usually. Which the people looking with the cameras could be (or in the time period of this being used, most likely due to gender typical jobs of that era) female.

Well since I've got nothing better to do, here's my comment for you. Looking at the beginning of the thread, it seems that you are the only person who is making this into an issue. No one is suggesting a major reallocation of resources or anything like that. It's just a simple addition to an already existing mechanic. It's a perfectly fine idea in my opinion.

This is a feature suggestion forum, and OP suggested a feature. Why u mad bro?

P.S. - Calling people vain and petty is, in fact, rude.

I always thought the Big Daddy title was a sly reference to Bioshock. Which, in the game in that series that shall not be mentioned by name, there are Big Sisters :P So, the context does have some merit if that is the origin.

That's.... Kind of sexist, actually o.o Big Momma is a common enough phrase. Perhaps not as much today as in the past, but I remember hearing, 'That' s one big momma' in movies...

Now, THAT would be a great achievement for spotting assists.... Big Brother is watching you...

But, it's more of a Big Brother is looking out for you, and helping you out. Which Big Sisters are just as well set to do.
