Dude...

A) Never skip leg day.
B) Active Probe is for Missiles.
C) Endo-Steel is your friend
D) Pulse Lasers are nice, but tonnage.

If you drop the LPLs and 3 DHS, and that useless ******* Beagle you can manage a 325 Standard Engine, 6 LLs and nearly full armour.

MAL-2P

Yeah, its actually horribad still lol. Fun, but yeah..

I just wish they came with XL 300's instead of 270's, of the cart you have to spend 5mil on two variants to up the engine size.. ..not cheap.

Don't own the Mauler but I feel I should say this.

Yes, do not recommend, I ran around in a Hunchback-4SP today and felt no fear from the 6AC2 build, even outperformed some. That should never happen. Bad enough the Mauler is built physically like the Awesome's older brother.

Up date on builds I posted above:
The 4 LRM-15 boat is just wrong. Background: I am a typical no patience kind of crappy player who more often than not lacks the ability to wait for an opportunity to strike properly or seek good approaches. Assuming I don't do something especially stupid right away, I usually get around 300 damage per pug match regardless of mech class.

Last night I ran two matches with the LRM-15 boat build and did 855 the first time and 1200 the second time. Now I understand why so many IS folks consider LRMs a crutch. If I would have been a bit more selective in my targets and actually bothered to move a bit, I am sure I could have doubled those damage numbers. Will be interesting to see if I can continue those numbers as I master these things.

Used to be my fav assault in the MW4 games, but I used Rotary Cannons and it chewed anything to pieces. As they dont exist in MWO, im guessing lots of AC2 will be the way forward.

The first mauler that appealed to me is the 2P.

Loving my wubs, I went 6 LPL, max XL, shaving a bit of armor from head / legs, with 8 double heat sinks.

Plays like a slower wubverine, runs a little hot but managable, absolutely melts face when you get an opportunity to bear all 6 on a target.

~850 dmg first pug match.

Playing around in smurfy I have not found anything I like that I can't already do with a KC. That said I understand it is much narrower and does have some advantages. I'm an IS assault pilot so I will get it eventually.

Just for fun I give you Dakamus-Prime

Testing various 90 builds. Trying to figure out which will be better, the 4x AC5 build or the 2x AC20 build.

Did the AC20 build fist with 2 medium pulse lasers as back up. Max Armor and STD Engine.
Match Score 235, Kills 3, Assists 6, with 299 damage.

Here's what I've come up with so far.

1R
4 LRM 10, 1 ERLL, TAG, 4 MG, BAP, 12 HS, 325
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a82d0f27d550658
I just can't use LRM 15's without Artemis so I went with 4 10's for better spread. I may cut the MG's and upgrade the ERLL to a LPL.

1P
This is an asymmetric loadout with 2 PPC's and 2 LBX AC10's on one side. 300 engine and 14 DHS.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...15a98428b614c12
I may turn this into more of a strict brawler and replace the PPC's with LPL's.

MX90
This is a 2 Gauss build backed up by 4MG's and 2 ML's with a 325 engine.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0f9da677abd45c5
If you put the MG's in first the Gauss Rifles end up close together right below the cockpit.

Been running the hexa-AC/2 MX90 with great success, consistent dmg around 700-900 per match. I don't recommend running any other weapons with it, it runs too hot with just AC/2s as it is.

Firing groups are definitely important. All 6 on group 1, 2 on group 2, another 2 on group 3. Hit group 3, then 2, then hold 1 for pair-fired bullet hell. Works great as a suppressor on top of being able to bore holes in the big guys.

So far not to much success (though some fun matches) for me but I've only really concentrated my (limited) efforts on the 1R.

That being said this thing feels like its got a ton of potential given the amount of harpdoints and the possible builds.

Gonna get it elited before making a final judgement.

The mauler is cool but the ballistic hardpoints get knocked out at the drop of a dime.lol start of a match a timber hit me with erlarge lasers from 1000 plus meters only doing 1 percent damage but it took out my rt ballistics.I've had several matches that has happened right away.the issue became soo bad I've removed all ballistics except mgs, they seem to stay with me.

Here's my 2P build that let me finish basics in about two hours:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7d409eaddce1058

Just shoot over obstacles with the UAC/5s until you have line of sight for the arms - surprisingly I don't feel that they are that low slung despite looking like they are low in the mechbay - and then pound them with the 3LL. When in closer you can also use the 3 ML. I one-shot a Raven with an alpha - it's a lot of firepower - and I find the mobility great even though I usually suck a lot with assaults.

And despite the seemingly low heat efficiency, the quirks make a big difference. I rarely even have to use chainfire on the LL arm. Use the right for the large lasers because that's the usual side of peeking on the nascar maps.

Cheers fellas and ladies, enjoy all your Maulers!

I had this happen to me and thought it was just bad luck. They got through my RT armor with gauss rounds while I was peeking. The internal structure was only yellow but it knocked out both the LBX's I had there.

How about 2*AC20 and srms?

That might work against noobs but once you get someone like me who realizes you're useless beyond 300 meters you're dead

MAL-2P

MAL-MX90

Still working on the other 2

Edit, The MX90 is pure shock and awe. 4 AC/5s to the face has a profound psychological effect on an enemy, throw in the LLs and it sends most of them running. So much fire.
