The developer's update gave the impression that the game is going to be pretty raw on August 7th. Operating under the assumption that the premium accounts will work like WoT (that is, that premium subs will be purchased using the extant ingame currency), I'd be much more inclined to purchase a founder's package if I knew I could just save the "gold"-equivalent and use it to upgrade to a premium account when I felt ready to do so.
Forcing people to use their founder's accounts premium when the game starts closed beta 2 seems quite misconceived to me.

Founder's Packages: Why not give ingame currency in lieu of premium sub

Well, it's pretty smart to be fair. Giving you premium gives you an incentive to actually PLAY the game, whereas in game currency you can blow on mechs and stuff, play twice and then never touch it again.

been many talks about this but nothing official from the devs yet, was even something Devs said that we might be able to delay the start of our accounts

Honestly I dont care about having a premium account. I would much, MUCH rather have that cash value added to my $80. Not sure if I remember correctly but I think it was going to be around 10-15 dollars a month? But anyways I really want 30 dollars instead of a lame bonus I don't want or need.

Considering I would of signed up for a premium account right from the start anyway, i'm quite happy with this.
In a perfect world yeah, Being able to fully pick all the package bonuses would be nice. But I think they're fine the way they are really... And 50% extra C-Bills and Experience is still pretty sweet

You are aware that if you play enough the bonus will pay you back in CB more than $30 right? Let's also not forget that extra experience is priceless in a game where you can't buy it outright. The first few pilot upgrades are really going to be nice because until you fill up your modules each one will just make you better. Maybe that happens at 4 modules maybe that happens at 3 modules; we don't know yet.

I really don't think that anything is forced here. They already mentioned that they might be able to work something on when your premium activates (and to reselect your elite mech) but they are more focused on getting the game ready for August 7. I really wouldn't mind either way even if the first week is crash-city.
It's no big secret that the game will be raw on August 7. They have mentioned before that they will release a Minimum Viable Product which does translate to raw and then build up on it. I fully expect server issues, client crashes, and what not when (or even if) I get to log in early. If would be silly to expect otherwise. At least you will be pleasantly surprised if it does work out well on early access and open beta.
The first few months will be like "We're still building up this game, but we're gonna let you blast the snot out of each other while we do it."
Edit:
If you are hesitant to purchase due to the unknown, that's perfectly understandable. You can reserve your cash for launch or when things are stable so that you can try the game out first. I'm almost sure that you'll be able to buy mechs with C-bill bonuses like the Founder's mechs (tho probably different looking) later down the road.

i feel fairly good about premium accounts starting right away and getting them because when you really want extra xp and c-bill are when you have nothing which is most when you first start playing. as for the timer starting on day one if any thing goes wrong with the premium accounts they most likely (should) reset the timers. yes i know it bad for the people who are x,y and z and will not be able to play till x days later.
