I would love to queue as a company come August 7th. Does anyone know if team matchmaking will be in by then? I really dislike the idea of a limited "teams" environment where we can only go in solo or with a small group. In a game and universe so focused on unit building and community building, it would be pretty unfortunate to be stuck with random teams all the time.
This has nothing to do with win % or anything and purely role warfare. I really want to play with people who use teamwork etc. Even if it's randomly pulling people from the community or other websites to play together, I'd vastly prefer it over solo. Even though I will definitely be playing both ways, I hope they have an option for this.
Hopefully this option is added to matchmaking asap.

Keep in mind August 7th is simply closed beta 2. If you don't expect full functionality you will not be disappointed.
Also the nature of this game, or any free to play is the fact the game will be in near constant development. I am sure the goal is a fully functional matchmaking system as well as a fleshed out meta game.

Community warfare won't be launched on Aug 7th but I think you can form teams in your friends list.

I would have no problem with companies fighting each other, but I really don't like the idea of being roflstomped by a company as a pick up player, and I would feel guilty roflstomping pubies if I join a company.

eh, join a good company= plenty of fun. Teamwork is absent in so many games (I.E CoD, etcetera) and Working together would be a wonderful break.

It's one thing to start a company of 12 and beat another organized team.
It's another thing entirely to find 3 friends and form a lance. I'll be quite upset if the lance option isn't implemented by the Aug 7th launch.
One of the things that kept friends from playing WoT for a very long time was that you could not platoon unless you were paying for the game.

Yeah there is some balancing/fairness aspects. But the fun factor of playing with a full company imo outweighs them. The community/social aspect far outweighs any drawbacks. Players will adapt as well, it will make everyone play better instead of foolishly. The community forming into actual community units is a good thing. Taking players ability to play with each other is a bad fix.

For the balancing to be effective, the system would have to pair team against teams and loners, friends against the same variety of players. This is hard to do if you have small community, but If we are going to see one LARGE game cluster with separate zones for each matches then the balance could be very good and you should enjoy the game much more.

I am all for grouping a platoon or lance, as a pick up group sort of player in most games I don't care if I have to fight against a lance, I know you are up against it if the Pug is unorganised but then hey that just simulates militia/unskilled green/regulars versus a veteran unit. If you can make them suffer for the win they have to respect you.
If you are lucky enough to roll with a lance/platoon and have some organisation then it will be heaps of fun, and you will probably stand out.

What makes you think playing as 12 isn't something to be tested? Matchmaking etc. All the sudden springing community warfare and 12 catapults with lrm boats become instant win? etc. Solo queue pub games with people messing around is really not that great of game balance testing. You'll find the game changes a lot when people are playing for c-bills / planets / as a team that you will never test in solo.
