So this is the 3rd time that this has happened in about 2 weeks. I log in to play, it says there is a Patch, I press Patch the patch downloads and runs and then it automatically runs the Repair tool and it starts downloading gigabytes of data.

Currently I am at "Downloading File 1/27" (the first one is a 393Mb download).

Dear MWO team, I don't have the patience to download the install base every other week. Although I have been spending a lot of money on your game these Patch/re-download issues are driving me nuts. You know that this is not the only game we as customers have right?

On top of that there is the "Disconnected from game server" issues that happen at least a couple of times each session. (I am in Texas btw, mentioning this since I remember seeing something Texas players getting affected with something, but that was so long ago and I will be really upset if that issues has not been fixed yet too)

Is there a workaround for all these issues?

Also playing from Texas,
Ive never been disconnected from game server unless my cruddy AT&T connection collapses (or the few times the servers themselves locked up and the whole match was suspended).

The patcher running the repair tool is because of an update to the way the files are stored locally and "should" lessen potential the length of future patches.

Sadly the only workaround is to run the patch when you do not intend to play and come back to it later.

So you are saying this patcher downloading 27 items is a common situation affecting all the players?

It is not affecting all players or we would see tons more posts.

I would suggest making sure shortcut is marked run with admin privileges. Then manually run the Repair tool.

Myself, I am on Suddenlink (cable) and have not had any of those issues.

Have you done a clean install (with admin privileges)? And installed it in a non-default location, ie drive:\\games\mwo?

The extra large patch process should have been a one time thing. But yes it would have effected most users(all but the most recent of installs would have had some files to be modified by the patcher). The amount of files to be replaced was different from one user to the next(I think I had closer to forty myself) but, once it was finished it should not have to repeat unless something is locally corrupting the files.

PGI replaced most of the files in the online repository on the beginning of April, must've been around the 7th iirc, and then again on May 5th.
That second update was unannounced and just serverside, so only if for some reason (corruption / old installation ...) the Patcher comes across non-matching checksums for certain files in your installation it triggers Repair Mode aka complete file download.

All the newly updated files have the timestamps for the included content removed, I guess to minimize future patch sizes. The pre-April files still contain them, e.g. the Tourmaline level resources.

But I haven't read or heard of any official explanation regarding the second repository update.
