Haven't played my Founder's Atlas much since Clans. Still brawls decently. I think I still prefer playing the Boar's Head.

I've had 1 "magic game" with 5 kills and 1100 damage in my Atlas. Now to get 9 more of those. Probably not going to happen on Mother's Day...

Had one good match where I went through 7 tons (don't need no more speed then a good std200), and got a good score too. suppressing fire with an ac20 is serious business. I think I had 10 shots when the opfor was down to 4 mechs. It was a good day in elo hell. Rebuilding my cat as a mini stalker just feels wrong though, but it performs sooo good without gh on LLs.

Completely opposite for me.

Running around with the Founders instantly told me I should never have trust PGI or put any money into this game, most of the mechs are thrash. The Jenner with its bad hitboxes is rubbish, Ravens, Firestarters make it feel like a coffin. The Hunchie is not bad but completely outclassed by the Shadowhawk let alone the Stormcrow. Catapult.... the red headed stepchild of the Heavies. Watching Timberwolf pack Clan weaponry and more ammo as well as even more firepower and it is supposed to be in the same weight class makes me laugh.

only the Fatlass is doable .

Dunno about you all, but draggin them out makes me spit on PGI even more.

Tried my Founder Catapult and got it back into garage. It is no longer viable.

I was surprised at how awful the Jenner has become. Really sad.

My CPLT-C1 is still the monster it used to be and it was reassuring to know why it was my favorite mech in TT and in MWO.

That catapult would basicly be the only mech I may consider killing someone over  Maybe...

PGI, if you read this, I will gladly throw my MC for more catapult heros / variants/ cosmetics. I already got doubles of all the catapults in game besides the Jester which is just 1.

I'd sell you mine in a heart beat if PGI let me. I rather hate the custom geometry. Mine is named Barbra Streisand for a reason. (And it's not me liking her music or acting)

Stalking (F)atlas is fun. Watching PUGs run around giving their mechs away to the enemy. The Stalker rushing in and dropping in 2 sec. Then watching someone else do the exact same thing 3 secs later. There I am tucked up behind the corner and watching the exchange shaking my head.

Some people just seem to think that wandering in one at a time into the enemy's kill zone is a great idea. Then when the enemy rushes into us I shoot the enemy in the back. A much better idea than peek a boo at the door. Then clean up the damage mechs as they notice me and turn their smoking torsos to the Atlas.

That is how you get 5 kills, 4 Solo kills, 4 Most Damage Dealt and over 500 damage. You might even survive the match. Sometimes it is enough to win, sometimes it isnt.

I'm running my HBK-4G (My initial mech) so not a lot has changed here.....it's been my favorite for quite some time.

But I have had my two highest damage matches ever in it this weekend (no, no crazy 1400 dmg stuff. I'm still not Comp, and I can still only pack so many ac20 rounds, lol). Before I had a high of 845, now I finally broke 1000. So I'm happy. Took about 22 matches to get my 20 pts, so that was nice too.

It has reaffirmed my love of the Hunchback though. And it's ability to be effective. If I can get a few more real good matches in, I might revisit the Catapult and or Atlas and see how they fare. It's be nice to wipe the dust off of them.

So how about you? Any stories of reliving your CB glory days in your "old and outmoded" Founder's Mechs?

Not so much. The Catapult unfortunately has not aged well at all.
Im getting alot of decent 380 to 600 dmg games.. but meh.

It's just too much of a walkin CT. Even the Dragon is better (well maybe not the 5N..the 5N is pretty failtastic.).

on paper the SHD seems better..toe to toe, the SRMs don't compensate for the RoF and agility, IMO, that the HBK enjoys. Since the quirkening, I have yet to find the BoomShad that my Hunchy couldn't take.

DPS yes, it's somewhat better, but I prefer the part where near the end of the match things die to one or two alphas

Outdps, maybe... but it'll die horribly in that encounter. I'd take a fatlas up against that orion any day. Orion puts out a lot of damage, but has lackluster hitboxes and is spreading basically all of that damage all over the place, even on an Atlas sized target. While on the other hand the AS7 with SRM18/AC20/ML's is punching Buick sized holes exactly where he wants them.

Yes, I'm aware of that. This is the part where I play dirty and make sure I have 1-2 team mates in front of me taking fire before showing myself so that I can get some uninterrupted quality facetime. Works best if you follow a timberwolf in pug games.

I'm just glad I picked the founder hunchback. Nobody plays those other founder mechs outside of the event. This is because catapults hitboxes were screwed with and missiles are not really good right now, everyone plays the DDC atlas over any other because of ecm, and the jenner F is prefered by most over the D. For a while shadowhawks were being played over the hunchback for ac20 builds but not after quirks.

Quite literally.. ..almost.

When you get up to the top 10 (HBK), basically if you get less than 700 and 6 kills 6 assists you are not going to move, so its a hard grind to keep climbing...

The hunchie is right up there with my YLW as one of my favorites. Have had a hell of a time playing it and rightly so @ #5. ;)

Taken apart Timbies, Whales, Thunderbolts, Crows. Cannot outclass the accuracy of some accurately placed AC20 shots.

I find that of my Founder's mechs, my Catapult is the one that pulls its weight the best, followed by my Hunchback.

I don't like LRMs in general, but trying to brawl in a Cat C1 armed with SRMs is...not a good plan. It seems to work if you gear up with LRMs and a pair of ER lasers and do direct-fire engagements at 500M. I can't tell if that makes me bad at LRMs or not, but I find if I have the nose pointed at some mech and shoot it with the lasers, missile locks with a clear flight path tend to just magically happen. Also at least when armed with a decent laser setup you can roll around at 300-400m without worrying about being hooped if someone gets inside your LRM minimum range.

Never had a flame with my AS7-D(F), but there's at least a spark now. I did not expect to be doing so decently with this hunk of metal. Still wish I had a different Founders mech (even a Catapult can run 3LPL+JJ) but at least I'm not hating my life yet.

i'm a founder but no desire to play and even if I did at best I could have squeeked out about 2 hours of game time. given the overall lameness of the old founders mechs I don't think I could have helped much.

Great thread idea. Nice to see some positivity on here for a change.

For me it's my old friend, Catapult. As LRMs have only gone from not remotely competitive to worse in comparison to other mechs in CW, I'd ignored my old love on everything but the quirked HBK-4J for ages. So trying out the Catapult again has been a pleasant surprise.

I stand by my position on how objectively bad LRMs are, but in pub matches it really doesn't matter. The other team rarely plays smartly, decisively, or in well enough designed mechs to negate LRMs. As much as they rely on mistakes to be effective, LRMs are rather good at punishing them. And especially with quirks the Catapult C1 remains a solid chassis for them.

Really the main differences from the old days are I can't lean on the lasers or self-spotting as much. Clan and quirked IS firepower is too strong to frequently expose yourself.

Had a pretty good time with the Atlas. I may spend some more time with it after the weekend.

And the C1, well I may just turn those missile boxes into beer coolers.
