Which is what PPFLD enables.

no PPFLD refers to all the damage converging instantly on one pinpoint location.

PPFLD and aiming are two seperate concepts. Its possible to have one without the other but its absolutely destructive to have both.

Examples:
Aiming without pinpoint damage would allow you fire weapons where you aim but would not allow you to fire all your weapons at the same time (i.e. no alphastrikes).

Pinpoint damage without aiming would allow you to converge all your weapons at the same spot but you wouldnt be able to aim for specific locations, instead the location hit would be randomly determined by cone of fire or some other method.

Battletech allows neither. MWO allows both.

PP = pinpoint. I.e., all weapons hit the indicated spot without any cone-of-fire mechanics.

FL = front-loaded. I.e., all weapons do full damage at once.

In MWO, SRMs and (Inner Sphere) LRMs = front-loaded, but not pinpoint, damage. Their damage is dealt instantly, but it's also spread over an area. Lasers = pinpoint, but not front-loaded, damage - meaning they spread over time, but not at any one particular moment. Their damage is concentrated, but it's also spread over time.

The only reason we have the problem you mentioned in MWO, whereas we don't have it in TT, is due to PPFLD. That's why arms and legs don't absorb hits in MWO while they do in TT.

Lasers, esp IS lasers, deal thier damage damn near fast enough to be considered PP. 0.67s is not enough time to even register your being fired at and twisting away. 1.5s is almost enough time to twist away some of it.

The next steps for PGI really should be a reduction in quirks and overall sustainable output. 40-60 point alphas came about out of everyone's HSR issues, firing 90 dmg, dealing 10......FS9s taking 90 dmg cuz HSR lost it all.

What I said was that PPFLD enables aiming. This is true, even taking what you said into account. Aiming without PPFLD would be no different to what TT mechanics already show. In fact, TT does absolutely allow aiming. It's just not all that accurate. Which is what PPFLD "corrects."

I understand you feel that way, especially if you're looking at the number on paper. But the reality is that even one-half of a second is a significant amount of time when talking about accuracy on a moving target. Hell, even one-fourth of a second is. That miniscule difference can mean the difference between a direct hit and a whiff.

As to your second paragraph? I'd love to see quirks go, entirely. It'd be great if all MWO 'Mechs were balanced evenly enough that we could see the current quirks system disappear entirely. Hopefully, that's what Russ' coming "across-the-board rebalancing" will accomplish. And then we could see more unique, less impactive quirks too. Stuff like, slightly faster ejection time, better cooling for the Vindicator's PPC arm while crouched in water, less reticle shake while being hit, etc. Stuff that would be more chassis-specific, more certain-situation beneficial instead of across-the-board better. Anyway...

aiming isnt that common. you can only aim at prone targets or if you have a targeting computer (clan tech is absolutely overpowered in battletech and everyone whos played it knows that).

and barring overpowered clan tech its super inaccurate like you said. so its not really aiming in the same sense as mwo.
