Why Pgi Should Say Why People Are Banned From The Game.

It's an online game, not a national televised sports league..

Either way they can if they want to name and shame, nothing from stopping them.
I feel for anyone wrongfully banned I had my pay cheque taken wrongfully in real life and it cost me ALOT. Just a construction worked doing hard labour and some pencil pushers took my pay cheque, 70% and I was already paying my taxes every 2 weeks.
Point is I feel for anyone unfairly banned, so I hope they dont make mistakes. Or they make an anti cheat department so large it threatens to bankrupt the place to the point they ban people out of desperation to justify their own pay cheques.
Really not in their self interest to bad people for no reason.

it was over 2x 10,000$ bets and weapon skins which are really hot market items apparently.
Valve full disclosure, love that.

I don't think so sometimes... Guess who this was?
That was Captain Kidd. He was left to hang in London for all to see for three years. Piracy never died.
And then you had idiots like this guy...
His name was Stede Bonnet. He was quite possibly one of the stupidest pirates in history. He was born into wealth and took up piracy apparently because he was bored and wanted adventure.
In fact, if you read about a lot of pirates (I have), many had screws loose (captain obvious), some were smart but for the most part, they did it because well, that's who they were. They were wired for it. It was in their blood.
The golden age of piracy ended around 1720, but piracy has never died off. Nor has criminal behavior. All humans are wired for survival. All life is. It is in our DNA. It is the essence of life on Earth. Driven to survive, be it need for food, fame or fortune, it is all governed by the same basic instinct all Earth life shares.
So hanging cheaters up to dry might not stop them. In fact, many probably wouldn't care. But it would give the rest of us respite. And that can be good and bad...
Anyone remember these?
That didn't happen too long ago. It was a very dark time in our nation's past. Many innocent women died because people believed in poppycock such as witches, warlocks and magic. But they felt better after a burn or a hanging for a little while. That is, until the next female slighted someone with a stare, potion or brew. Throw another witch on the fire, Shel Silverstein's masterpiece could be re-written to say. And that's what they did.
So tread carefully when considering a topic like this. It isn't cut and dry.
Oh, and here's some Shel (for context). Rest in peace, dude.
And lastly, there was this guy...
He died while dueling another ship's captain. One of the captain's shipmates ran up behind Edward Teach (Blackbeard) and stabbed/cut off his head. It was promptly put on Robert Maynard's bowsprit, left for all to see.
He's still idolized to this day.

Mister Blastman not really the same thing is it haha. A better example would be Walmart not banning costomers because its bad for them.

Wait, what? This is a topic about people being publicized as banned. Not about the merit of banning or not.
Stay on topic.
(and for the record cheaters sure as hell should be banned)

Do they really? I've played League and was not aware of that - was it a recent addition, or did I just miss it? I wasn't too enthused with the forums. Too hard to find what I wanted, not like here. /trollface
Still, I don't feel the need to encourage drama by posting up a list of cheaters.

And yet they still hold office. What does that say about the people who keep them there?
My problem with this deal is that I can't help but think the motivation is false.
I work at a factory; we make plastic bags. Whenever we want something from management, we frame the request as a safety problem. Its not. Everyone knows that. But if a legitimate safety concern is raised and management doesn't act to eliminate the problem and someone gets hurt, they're liable. So, we tend to get the new tool or whatever we needed.
This, to me, has a similar air of falseness. I suspect 99% of those who want disclosure don't really want it to prevent or discourage cheating, though they'd be happy if it had that side effect. They really just want the lurid details, because in gaming circles (or professional sports, royalty, or whatever) everyone loves dirty, scandalous news, particularly if it involves the fall from grace of someone known. The "pro gamer" was cheating? Awesome! When he beat me, it was because hax, not because he was better than me!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not insulting anyone here. After all, I went and looked up the story too, because its a big ****** mess and it hits your sense of curiousity right in the nads.
But let's not kid ourselves: almost everyone really just wants to know who cheated because its juicy news. The fall from grace. And that's why PGI shouldn't disclose that information, it'd just make the forums even more drama filled

If you cheat, you're a ****** person and should suffer the consequences.

I think we personally should know why we are banned, but it shouldnt be known to the public

PGI should never dive into the specifics of a ban.

Yes MWO is relaxation.
There is a simple reason why criminals names and deeds are made public.
For the good of the community and to be a lesson to the rest of us.
Play Nice.

I couldnt care less about the details. I am just glad that if a player was cheating, which we dont know, he got banned.
The theory about the pro player you mentioned who was in theory banned for cheating, probly was cheating when he beat that player in fact. Actually we can assume so. Thats the whole point of this. Players want a clean game and if naming and shaming helps then so be it.
If a player in a hockey game gets a penalty he is out for a while, if he uses a jet pack or a grenade on the ice he doesnt get to play hockey again. They wouldnt hide his name.

I spend way to much time on these forums laughing at my own bad jokes. Is that wrong? This reply is a bad joke to by the way.

For too long PGI has tried to keep this issue under wraps and over the last three weeks there have been an increasing amount of topics related/concerning cheats and cheaters.
They are basically scum who take pleasure in spoiling other people's fun. The more players are aware of this the better and the more they can keep an eye out for such things.
PGI needs to ensure they are able to do something about such cheaters and detecting them.
In this topic's case it is good to have read that team members reported such person to PGI. Top competitive teams need to be proactive in stopping cheating as well because rightly or wrongly they will be the people who will fall under suspicion first based upon their success.
For me as a player I will be ensuring that I have screen video capture software ready to go when watching other people play.
Cheers Eboli.

Bans for hacking should be permanent 100% of the time, ala Valve.
