Every time I try to patch, I get this glitch. I've tried patching, I've tried clean installs, I'm about to try installing somewhere random to see what happens... I'm at wit's end, since this takes five hours to download every time. Does anyone have a fix for this, or know what causes it?

This could be due to many things such as:
  • Bad internet connection
  • Overactive anti-virus
  • File corrupting infection
  • Dieing HDD

With any luck, it was the connection. My SSD is brand new, it's definitely not dying.

I have the same problem and have yet to get a solution from support or the forums. I haven't been able to play the game for almost a month now. My system is great I have a stable connection and I even uninstalled my anti-virus but nothing is working.

Are you sure nothing snuck in behind your antivirus? Have you tried any anti malware and a good registry cleaner?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess I don't have any viruses. Even if I do I know I did not get any around the time this problem started occurring.

The problem actually started when I ran the repair tool because it was recommended to do it before the last patch or two. After that MWO stopped working when I tried to drop in a game. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled and got the MD5 problem. If I run the repair tool I just get the same problem ware MWO crashes.

I am also experiencing the same thing now. I already did everything to get the game re-installed again short of having to reformat my whole system. I already used the fixes that are posted here in the mwo site but still no luck. The last patch killed the game for me.

The repair tool is crashing?

If you have had any form of power failure/loss to the PC the SSD could have corrupted data. I found the SSD's are really only useful as a boot drive.

I actually have a hybrid drive. But again I don't recall any power failures around the time of this happening. I do have a secondary drive and one thing I was thinking is maybe downloading it on that drive and then transferring it into my primary.

No. Running the repair tool gets me a few seconds past the patch screen in which the program itself stops responding.

So you are no longer receiving the MD5 and launching the game is stalling either at the end of the patcher or before the title screen? Or is the repair tool never run without MD5 errors and you are just attempting to launch even though its not repaired?

What has not been mentioned, and the files hit this on incoming and when being unpacked for play is system ram.

Unstable or bad ram, or bad memory slots will also cause the issues. And uninstalling a 3rd party antivirus program does not stop Windows Defender from activating and running.

On the unstable part, it could simply be due to the system dynamically adjusting settings/timing/speed (usually this is default), with a borderline bad stick causing the issues. Additional culprit is a failing/underpowered (specific rails) PSU.

Pick one, then pick the disk version, if you BIOS is a BIOS, or else the USB model for UEFI.

One lap tends to take ~45 minutes; The second one bumps the total up to almost four hours: You should know how bad your RAM is by then …

If I click patch I get the MD5 error. If I skip the patch all together and run the repair tool it then crashes immediately after I hit the launch button.

I don't think windows defender has a fire wall. I did however disable windows firewall and Windows smartscreen as well. It's not the PSU, im sure if it was I would have other symptoms. Everything is fairly new and I have had PSU problems in the past.

I ran mdsched.exe and found 0 probems. I can throw my specs up if it matters. I could run the stuff you advise if you think its better.
