Just like the title. Shouldnt it cost C-bills to repaint the mechs or what? Anyway I hope they add this for the sim because it would be realistic.

It's one of the few ways for them to make money. Also, there are basic colors that you can get for C-Bills.

Yeah no. I already spent C-bills and MC to buy the colors, the last thing I want is to have to fork over more money to apply the colors I own. (Besides, we have camo patterns for that)

Realism be damned; this is MechWarrior, not reality!

Ok I was talking about after a player has spent the MC they still would have to spend C-bills to have their mech painted or to repaint it etc.

Hey now it only makes sense after all. This is supposed to be a sim.

There are limits, you know. Otherwise we'd have...
  • Super OP clantech (Considering you already consider clans easy mode, you definitely wont like this)
  • Repair and Rearm Costs
  • Refit times
  • Repair times
  • Paying for mechanics
  • Assassinations of characters via other means
  • Betrayals
  • Permadeath on cockpit kills
  • Paying for dropships
  • Having one mech at most at a time for a small time merc
  • Permanent faction allegiance to clans
  • Logistics in CW [not intrinsically bad]
  • Unbalanced teams depending on the aforementioned logistics
Let's keep some thing gameplay > realism. Besides, cbill earnings are already terrible. I shouldn't have to pay cbills on top of what I spent real money on.

Only one point I will contend with: The clan OP tech.

The main, and almost only reason clan mechs really roflstomped the IS houses in lore is because the clan pilots were facing tech 1 mechs. To translate this into MWO terms. They were fighting stock mechs.

Even toptier IS equipment is not as poweful as clantech equipment.
And yes, if it were realistic: Stock mechs only.

Burktross, Clan tech was SUPPOSED to be OP compared to IS tech.

This thread will NOT turn into a who's tech is more OP thread.

Fellas, let's focus on the OP

I know.
In TT it's fine because of BV and asymmetrical matching.
That doesn't work in MWO.

Technically probably... But, I'm gonna go with no :P

Now, there are reasons it might be free... If you get assigned to a certain world, odds are you'd have your mech repainted as part of due process to blend in with the unique environments... It's not like they get automotive-quality paint here. They expect to replace most of your armor every time, they probably just have a car-wash like setup that paints your mech before you walk out :P

I would agree cost per paint job if all colors were available and patterns

Unfortunately, it's not. It's a Mech-themed tactical shooter...not a sim.
