And Clan XL.
We still have people lamenting this mech, yet at some point it quietly became the best 80 ton mech in the game.

But is it the best in it's tonnage grade? No, the Executioner will take it's spot as one of the fastest Clan Assaults, considering it's MASC and when it is elited you can go Warhawk Speed.
MASC will boost it up around another 12-14 KPH, making it go 84-86 KPH.
The gargoyle also is the only clan assault to be 80 tons as of now, and comparing it to IS 80 tonners is like comparing the kit fox to the firestarter.

It could be the best 80 tonner in the game, but due to Terribad construction, NOPE. It does have hardpoints after the new Pods.
So at least it's got that going for it.

Nope, Jump Jets are 3 tons for each one added, if you add 4 that's 12, and by then you'd have about 9-10 tons left...

Then give the arms with missile hardpoints a +SRM range quirk.
Lastly double the C-ERPPC quirks.
Ice Ferret should get similar treatment for the ERPPC quirks
As well as a few hardwired DHS in side torsos free of charge (no tonnage added)
Summoner should get the same treatment as the garg and Ferret pretty much (as well as far more powerful JJs)

that's a bad idea, because then they would all complain about why those two get free DHS with no needed tonnage, then they would mouth off about the nova and such, or why the the Warhawk doesn't get it.
You see how "Free" in a mech is a bad idea?

Terribad for a clan mech maybe, but superior to most IS options anyway.
Unless you think paying the same tonnage for a 335STD engine is some kind of a good deal, or if having a Victor that is the same height with larger actual STs, and an IS XL engine is even remotely as survivable.
Those are the comparatively terribad options available to IS mechs.
You either go slower for the same tonnage to have greater survivability, or accept a much, much larger risk and go IS XL.
So yeah, as I said. Keep lamenting this mech - it's still the best 80 tonner in the game.
If you gave me a choice and told me I could only play one 80 Tonner, I would choose the Gargoyle with it's "terribad" construction over the Victor, Zeus or Awesome right now in the current game.

Good for you.
Have fun with lasers....and only lasers. With 200M range. Be a worse Nova (how is this even possible?!)

No I don't see how it is a bad idea. I agree the warhawk could use some love as well but I'd take the Warhawk 100x over the garg atm. Also the mechs I listed are all known weaklings that need buffs.
The Nova needing love is highly arguable, especially with it's new tankiness. I'd say that makes it balanced.

How is this: GAR-D
worse than this: NVA-PRIME
Same speed. Same firepower. Same gorilla arms. The Nova has JJ, but Gargles has 6 more DHS and a lot more armor. Seems like Mr. Gargles is the better laser boat to me. The Nova may be a better CW mech due to 30 tons less dropship tonnage, but Gargles is a better mech overall.

That isn't saying much, the 80 tonners are all some of the worst assaults barring variants like the AS7-K.

However, I think that the Victor needs a bit more help than the Gargoyle. It has access to jump jets, but that's not very good in the current environment. Improving its jump jets and giving it some significant heat reduction on PPC/ERPPC, maybe Gauss charge time reduction, would make the Victor stand out. The Victor was balanced using the old jump jet model during the poptart meta; its design is just too old. It would be interesting to see at least 1 Victor variant based around poptarting. The others should be given speed/agility quirks, and some armor/structure in the arms and side torsos, similar to the Gargoyle.
This is coming from a guy who pilots a Gargoyle a lot. I like fast assaults. The Victor needs a way to distinguish itself apart from the Banshee, and the Gargoyle needs to be more distinctive than the Executioner (which will, for the most part, make the Gargoyle obsolete).
