Personal concerns:

I'm all for added bonuses, but there was already plenty of reason to buy before the 31st. Now it's been 'doubled' with the same deadline. I know PGI is spending a lot lately and map development is at an all time high...and not cheap. Still, I can't help but feel PGI is spending too much money too fast and kinda lost in how its gonna pay its bills. (Or is Transverse still being developed behind the scenes?) Something kinda seems off.

....

(emphasis added)

I agree. Through the years I have kept a cool head and tried to analyze any claims that PGI was underwater, going broke, etc. Each and every time I came to the same conclusion, that things were just fine, PGI was paying its bills and had cash reserves.

Yet no, after 2-3 years, for the first time I feel uneasy.

Russ is rushing Steam release, the previous MC sale lasted for a LONG time (maybe oversight by employees), and the sudden flash promos at the end of the month to pre purchase a mech pack.

Flash promos at the ends of the month usually mean someone is trying to make payroll. A rush to Steam means we need new customers now. An extended MC sale means (to me) we need any cash you got.

I hope I'm wrong.

Anyways, the future of sustainability for this game lies in microtransactions and a constant income. That's premium time, camos, single mech purchase, consumables, extra drop decks, solaris with betting cbills, etc. Mech packs have diminishing returns. (until they get the bushwacker out :))

For what it's worth, they could have gone to Steam ages ago.

They'd decided it wasn't ready, and the cut to steam possibly wasn't worth it.
But Russ wants to be on steam by the end of the year, preferably by the end of Summer for 2015, but only if they feel it's actually ready.

Personally, I think that the incentive was either planned anyway, or R2 isn't selling as much or as fast as they'd hoped / projected.
Which may be due to burnout, that a lot of the mechs are samey, etc, (Those 2 are why I've only done the Wolfhound, maybe Crab).

Well, i already had the Grasshopper pack and the Mauler pack so was only $20 to upgrade to the Zeus pack and get 7 mechs for it, so i went for that. I predict that the Panther will be complete junk, because ballistics are too heavy for IS lights, ill probably sell it instantly (for decent c-bills since it comes with an utterly useless but expensive XL175), the Enforcer will probably be ok, but open for debate if it will be quirked well enough to compete with the Yen-Lo and the Zeus i dont know about because i dont know the chassis. Another one with an SRM18 dildofist though...

Basically im risking 20$ that the Grasshopper will end up with 4x shoulder mounted energy ports.. If those 2 extra energy are belly mounted it was probs a waste of money. But only £13 is not really a big deal so whatever.

no jump jets. thats why i prefer the victor over any ac20 zeus.
got RP1 and RP2 anyway so i say

CHEERS! much appreciated ^..^

Victor cannot run SRM18 in the other Arm.. just saying.

AC20 + ASRM18 all arm actuated would be brutally good at brawling. But it wont get an AC20 in that arm, ill bet dollars to donuts

Well, if it DOES get an AC/20,it won't be all-arm actuated. The lower arm actuator has to be chopped out to fit an IS AC/20.

and the zeus doesnt have JJ mobility which the victor still has.
also its not running as hot.
sometimes having less alpha is better for survivability. especially on JJ mechs that are as huge as the victor.
i could mount 3 srm4+ artemis but 2 srm6 are definetly the better option.

Hmmmm...

Panther = Huggin minus 2 ballistic slots in a more hitbox friendly chassis. Without quirk info, it's either OP or DOA and nothing inbetween.

Enforcer: It's the 5D with 1 more energy point, and no JJ's. It can do 125 with an XL350 though, with room for an AC20 and a couple tons of ammo... I dub thee turbo troll

Grasshopper: 7 crazy high mounted energy points in an XL friendly chassis with JJ's? The stalker/grasshopper laservomit dropdeck is now confirmed as OP (pending some laser quirk bonuses). Commence clan crying now.

Zeus: looks like they took the best parts of all of them and rolled them into 1 XL friendly monster. Turbo Mini Atlas here we come, gauss or AC10 instead of AC 20 though :(

Hey,

Please consider extending the IRD for a couple more days, at least while the Resistance event is happening,

Thanks,

Wyrm

This game is nothing more than a expensive digital mech collector game....I want a story or no more money.

I'd go w/the Wolfhound myself. Looks like a better mech and from the books/novels, it was. the Panther had heat issues as I remember. (but that was years ago since I've read the novels, so I could be wrong)

He does have a point I think

I'd like to see a Warhammer (especially since it was on the old Box of tabletop board game) or Bushwacker mechs but maybe those'll be out later.
