I played in Cincy. I got my *** handed to me so bad. It was demoralizing, and expensive.

Vegas had 32 of the 3.0 pods, and I spent a fortune, (1000 games at ~$15 each) just to learn.
Cinci was my first incursion in the version 4's. A lot more complex. Less finicky for the operator.
Lazar park in New York were the 4 pods.
And I used to love Martian Football as well...

There are so many threads on this, but nobody seems to search for them. Someone else started compiling these a while back, maybe I'll try and keep up on them and maybe even get a mod to merge them into one massive thread.

I use to play the one in Ontario, Ca at the Dav and Busters when I got down there. It think it was just an 8 pod but it may have been 12. Goo times, but expensive.

Played in Walnut Creek, CA before they closed, then played in D&B in Milpitas, CA. Bringing a couple of old Vworld buddies with me into this game when it goes live.

Who were you at Costa Mesa? I only played Red Planet there (still the best racing game I've played to date). I played as Mithrander.

I played at the Hazard Center location in San Diego. I actually started in early 1995, as my 20-year career in the U.S. Navy. We actually played the Battletech RPG board game on the ship to kill time (when we had it), so when VW opened, it seemed like a good fit for us. We would blow easily 100 dollars on a payday night, then taper off to 20 or 40-dollar nights as the payday blues set in. We weren't as rich as alot of the people who came in, but as true seafaring warriors, we loved to come in and play Battletech or some Martian football.
I think the saddest thing I ever saw, was seeing the old pods collecting dust in a small warehouse off of Clairemont Mesa Blvd. It's been a long time, and I had put it out of my mind. I wish I could remember the name of the good friend I was in there with, but he was trying to raise money to resurrect those old pods, and was more or less successful for a while. I left unfortunately, for Las Vegas by that time, in 2002. Dave & Buster's had already removed them (I think), which was a downer for me. But, Piranha has helped to resurrect the good feelings of those days.

I have been a Mechwarrior fan, since Westwood Studios released Battletech: The Crescent Hawk's Revenge in 1990. I actually started late. I didn't know that Activision had already released Mechwarrior for DOS, but since I was building my own custom boxes in 1987, once I got wind of new Battletech games being released for the computer, I was jazzed.

I had actually played in Yokohama on liberty one night, it was expensive as heck by our standards, but a whole lot of fun. So, when Virtual World first opened its doors in San Diego, I was one of the first ones in line to play. Nothing beat the atmosphere. I could stomach the Jolt! cola in those days, and would often swigger one down before heading in to play a match.

I used the moniker Pereset, after a book series title about ancient Greece I had been working on in 1987, and have been using ever since. The series never seemed to get done (I hope that I get it done before I die), but I've been using the Pereset moniker since 1985 (when I started working on my series).

What I've really enjoyed about what Piranha has done, is that playing this game sometimes brings back memories - the fun and frolic that we had, as well as tactical and strategic ploys needed to really be successful at the game.

It's good to see some VW veterans online, playing this new form of online game. I don't feel so old...

I started working in Chicago when the Battletech Center first opened, and I stayed there until they closed.

Thank you for the links, Jalen!
