I also don't get this. And it's not like the (P) variants are the ones that you say "if only I could have a CB bonus version of this!"

But... the (P) Tbolt looks so much better with those shoulder pauldrons than the standard variants!

I hope they vote to make the Phoenix Pack available... I was just lamenting not buying it the other day! I didn't at the time, because the game hasn't progressed much since I invested in the Founder's pack, and I was leery... but, I'm confident, now :3

I noticed that the bar was raised from 50,000 for the founders to 65,000 for the phoenix. :)

also why not just have a phoenix reinforcement package, different mechs but with the same medallions and CW bonus'??

VOTE NO!!!!

First, should not resell old content give them Phoenix they will feel entitled to Founders.
Second, we need new mechs not sell old ones.

When did this game become WoW?

It's like saying, why work when you get a free welfare check? PGI does no work, makes money by making one post and restoring the phoenix sale page on the website. Founder's pack only had 4 mechs with a small initial player base. Phoenix had 6 mechs with a much larger purchasing base. Should have been proportional and made it at least 75,000 if not 100,000 but PGI wants to make the Phoenix pack available as a favor to the players requesting it *rolls eyes*.

They probably won't sell more than 100 packs but that's $8,000 more than they had with nothing other than 10 minutes of work by a single employee. Definitely worth it to them.

This is an...interesting twist on last weekend's event, but one that may not yield as favorable results. Why? Because PGI is asking the owners of a "limited time offer" to play to open a vote on if that "limited time offer" deal should be made available to others. I am neither a founder nor a project phoenix owner as both happened before my time (but I do own at least some if not all of the other packages PGI has offered) but I happen to agree with all the people who say they will vote NO if given the chance because it would diminish the uniqueness of what they purchased back then. As much as I would love to somehow acquire a founders tag or own some of the unique (p) mechs I don't think it is good "PR" to make these things available again. If the vote were to re-open project phoenix with all new item, call it project phoenix 2015 or part 2 or something with all new (p) variant mechs then yes I would be in favor...because it would be something new for EVERYONE and something that no one else already has. Please PGI keep unique things truly unique and special!

1) the medallion bonus is small, but you are aware that the (P) mechs have a built in LP bonus of 10%, add that with the medallion and thats a significant LP boost. compared to those without.

It's not 10% EACH, it's 10% TOTAL (2.5% per mech).

So, in order to get the bonus, you'd have to run a deck of Phoenix mechs IN ALL.

Contrast that with having just Premium enabled.. which is automatically a 10% bonus REGARDLESS of whether you have Phoenix related stuff in your deck.

Quote

2) Just because there are other variants of the mech that are better (Like the D-DC Atlas being superior to the Founders Atlas) doesn't mean the mech is garbage. It really depends on the player and the map. Quirks really help mechs perform better in the roles they were "originally" designed for, and you get bonuses for playing them that way. You can still spec your mech however you want, barring hardpoints/weight/etc.

I speak mostly of the Phoenix variants, because they tend to be the worst of the bunch.

The competitive player does not even bother with the Phoenix variants, as that doesn't help themselves win on a consistant basis. If you take a look at which variants are considered "meta", only the Thunderbolt-5SS qualifies from the mechs/variants relating to the Phoenix pack.

The bulk of the LP growth is from damage, winning, and PRIMARILY the contract you are on in CW. That is what brings the LP growth to what it is. 30% from a 28-day contract is pretty beefy compared to the alternatives (although one could get 50% on a Perma-contract if they so desire to get it quirker).

Quote

3) Considering how short the window was for the package, and how small the playerbase was in comparison to the current playerbase (with PGI pushing to get a steam release, get more people involved in CW, and with revamped Quirks all over) it would actually be in PGI's best interest to make the Phoenix collection available again, especially since its a much better value for the customer instead of trying to buy expensive mastery packs in comparison. Its not very conductive for getting more people into the game. Maybe they could give original project phoenix owners a special title or something, but really making such a large collection especially exclusive and forcing everyone else in the game to either grind or go with incredibly expensive mastery collections is not a great business decision.

It wasn't actually a short window (at this point, I don't even remember when it began, but it ended towards 2013).

Getting more people into the game starts PRIMARILY from fixing the NPE.. the thing that doesn't enough attention from PGI... which is FAR more inductive in keeping people in the game.

More deals don't actually help the player get into the game... that's a misguided thought.

Don't worry dude, you can definitely expect new mechs. They've been pretty darn good with new content since IGP left. But making new content takes time x money, and these are both resources that a f2p game company has to manage carefully. I fully support reselling of the Phoenix package. I'm sure there are many new players who would love the option to purchase it.

However, they've also been very kind by leaving the decision on this matter up to the community. I think we should all appreciate and respect them for making that call, I sure do.

Lastly, they can't resell the founders program, as that is a privilege reserved for the players who supported this endeavor from the very beginning! I wouldn't be too worried about this. Rather than bracing yourself for a resell of the Founder's package, I'd say you can anticipate another mechpak release after the Phoenix program resell. Possibly a Resistance 3 or Clan Wave 4.

Valid points. As such, I'm sure this is exactly why PGI has left the decision to the owners of the unique Phoenix Program package. If the package goes on resell, then we don't have to worry about these points because that would mean the majority of current Phoenix package owners are OK with having their content resold.

When the yes vote comes through, they will attempt to appease the original Phoenix owners by announcing,
"The Phoenix Overlords have spoken, :Limited time only, Phoenix pack goes on sale for one week.
All original Phoenix owners will get a special mug/random cockpit item for purchasing the pack when it was originally offered." Maybe throw in some free premium time depending on how hostile some Phoenix owners get.

Well yeah, the bar was raised because there were only 4 founders mechs released, as compared to about 6 phoenix mechs released, and the package was made available to a larger group of people at a MUCH better price point compared to founders.

As for the other question, that would just alienate older phoenix owners because they WONT get those different variants. One of the main selling points of the phoenix set (other than the LP bonus) was both the unique geometry and paint scheme. Not having those unique things would really piss off the people who want the original phoenix collection but were unable to get it for one reason or another.

Pretty much PGI is damned if they do, damned if they dont. If they dont re-release the Phoenix collection, original owners will feel much more smug about their exclusivity while screwing over players who want that package (even if the mechs arent great, its a great deal $$$$$ wise because you get so many mechs at a better price point compared to buying mastery packs). But if they do re-release the phoenix pack, original owners will feel like they are getting screwed because it was only suppose to be available for that limited time. But at the cost of both pissing off newer players and players who originally missed out on the original release.

That being said, and with how vocal people are feeling about the (P) collection, original owners are going to keep their smug "unique butterfly" status because they dont want more people to own their special package.

I am torn on this question, since there is exclusivity, just like the Founders package, in having the Phoenix package and I would like to see PGI succeed with this game.

To change that we need to receive something of value. A way to let the Phoenix package and the Saber reinforcement package mechs be released again is to offer the original Phoenix package owners some MC, a set dollar amount off an upcoming package or other offers of value. The way I see it is we paid for exclusivity due to the mechs "NEVER again be available to purchase or to unlock." That means some form of compensation unless all the Phoenix package owners agree to allow them to be available for purchase. We have four types of mechs that are similar to Hero mechs, but are not available for purchase at this time:
Loyalty (L)
Phoenix (P)
Founders (F)
Sarah's Jenner (S) treated as a Champion mech with an XP bonus.

* I forgot, there are five types, the Gold Clan mechs (G) *
* I forgot the Grid Iron Limited Edition, got to have the cheerleader*

Another thought is to add the loyalty bonus, as applied to the six Phoenix mechs, to the currently available packages and upcoming packages.

From the FAQ posting:
http://mwomercs.com/...t-phoenix-faqs/

Q: How are the Phoenix Battlemechs cosmetically and functionally different from the Mechs already in-game?
A: The Phoenix Variants of each Project Phoenix Battlemech comes packed with the following cosmetic and functional perks:
Unique and Exclusive Custom Designed Exterior
30% C-Bill boost
10% Loyalty Point Boost
Important! These Phoenix Variants will NEVER again be available to purchase or to unlock once the sale offer has ended.

Another example:
http://mwomercs.com/...oenix-feedback/

"Project Phoenix will be made available for a limited time only, and once vaulted these packages will never be made available again!"

Then when the saber reinforcement package was announced.
http://mwomercs.com/...cement-package/

Starting today, players who have purchased a Project Phoenix package are invited to upgrade their purchase to include six additional Sabre Reinforcement Mechs!

The only unique thing about the mechs are insignificant bonuses and slight change of geometry over the prime variant. Since those who have them will have the opportunity to snuff it out, I really don't see a problem with it.

You really don't get the issue this causes... First off if the vote goes though it will be the ok they need to rerelease all the packs when steam comes out basically being a big FU to early adopters. Giving them time to just sell OC, while all of us die and linger looking for new content. I have bought the top tier of every pack and two gold packs. This poll option pisses me off honestly.
I want a Mad Cat Mk II since forever... Time to skip that timeline and sell mechs people want! Cough cough nova cat etc

Why though? If it's because of all the early adopter rewards you earned, they haven't said ANYTHING about early adopter rewards being available... Also, I think at this point in time we really NEED more to entice new players for a larger and steady player base, especially for when Steam release comes around.

the main reason why this is even happening is because many (note I'm not saying "majority") phoenix owners have requested multiple times to allow resell of phoenix pack. Also, many have said "no" to this idea.

There is no way to actually know how many people are on each side, unless a poll is taken.

PGI is taking a useful approach, saying: "we'll do what you, the players, want us to do", so they're throwing the question back at the players.

If it fails, it's because players said so. If it succeds, it's because players said so. Regardless there will be people happy and people upset.

Now the best thing that can happen to PGI is that 90%+ of phoenix owners say yes, that way people are happy and PGI can make money.
The second best thing would be for 90%+ of phoenix owners say no, that way most people are happy.
If it's close to 50/50 then it will be very bad.

Good luck PGI, you put yourself in this mess.

Lol nevermind the 100x more bad players, getting team damaged often, if not outright killed regularly and all the extra trolls. But even if you were a mediocre player before, you should be able to do much better on average in pugs, at least for the first month.

This game needs more polish, lore, and a better new user experience before steam, not a mech pack! My list is huge on improvements but everything seems on hold till CW gets its crap...

I am a founder, I bought the Phoenix/Saber pack and it was supposed to be for a limited time. If not what was the point again? Lies and betrayal XD gimme a break. Leave it move on, make more content instead.

Do you actually lose anything though? With the exception of the Gold mechs, which they will probably never do again on chassis new or old, they could put all the mechs already sold in previous packs in a package(s), stick a new letter behind their name, change the paintjob, rake in the cash, and you couldn't actually say they are reselling a package already sold.
