Have EmP, SJR, 228th BW, CSJx, etc make the balancing.

Not whoever is doing it atm, whoever that is is not balancing, that group needs to be sent to another place, like improving maps or CW or anything else.

The top teams know what to change about balancing, and nerfing already underused IS mechs (and Clan mechs have well, less usability again) is NOT the way to go.

I would be against strictly handing the game balance over to players who aren't on the programming side of things. I would have them lend a voice, among the many other players, to address certain balance issues. Like many others they are human beings with an opionion.

The Devs are ultimately in charge of addressing these balance issues. If you are concerned with something in game the best thing we can do is try to reach out as one voice to someone, say the community manager, whose job is to address such things.

I believe these teams would have much to share and I would recommend that they form a group together, with the rest of the community of course, to address to PGI an balance issues. I would not however want them dictating the course of the game.

In my eyes I'd like to seeless tiering among mechs, and better support for role warfare (like the scouts). Perhaps some reduced laser vomit, but I'd like to see more auto-cannons enter the mix, as well as introduce melee combat, which would be super fun! (axeman anyone?)

Again, I say the community gets together as one voice to address issues. Elsewise just continue your rant in here unnoticed ;)

**** Balance. All is fair in love and war. If you don't like getting killed by a certain weapon, try learning how to become a better pilot and use better weapons. It's that simple

Compt. players would make machine guns, flames ACTUALLY useable! lol. We actually understand game balance, and why certain makes PREVAIL over others.

The "meta" is only used in compt. because, we are competitive and push every variable/utilize every aspect to win. This means, taking/creating the mechs with best stats/dps/alpha/heat for the given map, practicing, strategizing, theory crafting. We have just as much as fun as you rolling an Orion or Warhawk or other random, lower tier mech as you!

We are just multifarious individuals who understand the game. I can tell you right now what the next meta will be just based on the given nerfs released yesterday actually.

And I can tell you what the next meta will be after this tuesday patch as well. Just because I am not a competitive meta player doesn't mean I do not know anything about balance.

Comp players as you said "aking/creating the mechs with best stats/dps/alpha/heat for the given map"... however it is typically NOT the given map... If this was the case why isn't meta players running LRM builds on Alpine peaks? Why are they not running machine guns, small lasers, and LBX 10's on Terra therma or mechs like hellslinger who is practically IMMUNE to the effects of terra therma?

Because of the fact that they do not do it for the given map. They do it for all maps. They use builds that do NOT require team work, do NOT matter if it's alpine peaks, HPG, forest colony, or river city. builds that do NOT require locks, does not get hindered by enemy ECM, etc.

The only place this fails is Terra therma, because meta tactics clash with meta builds.
For instance running a 2 Large pulse laser 4 ER medium laser timberwolf OR a 6 Large laser stalker then go to the centre of the map which is the hottest part of the map and then complain about heat.

Ironically the only time I saw this not occuring on a high elo match is when the enemy team consists of 8 LRM boats purely. (like literally nothing but LRM's...), 3 streak bots, and this 1 catapult C4 with 1 medium laser, 1 tag, and 4 NARCS. (I assume from the way he fired them that this is to narc 70% of my team by pop tarting just once... )
That's the only time in the past 2 years I saw anyone play that map correctly and was one of the fun games i had in forever.

that aside. I never saw any cheese build do well on that map. Apparently the cheese just melts...

I am not a comp player but I have a very good understanding of balance and such. Hence why I do very well with weapons like LBX 's, Streaks, UAC's 2-20, Lore builds and stock+ and ++ builds. Mechs like the locust. Machine guns, etc.

Trust me. if only meta players alone try to balance this game, most of the balances would be removing 80% of the weapons from the game OR ruining them and anything that made them original.

If you want you can go send me a PM on how you would change the balance of every weapon and mech in this game in detail please. I do promise to read it no matter how long it is. However do not fill it
