The best mechs in the game get nerfs and you think they are broken. You guys are pathetic.

That is quite an assumption and not a very nice thing to say.

This is what the loudest voices here are saying. Not picking on you directly.
Simple fix, don't build full energy based loadouts with maximum number of hardpoints.

Thank you.

Speaking for myself, I do not disagree with the nerfs per se, but this seems a bit too much. All the medium/heavy mechs with FF and endo are OP; this tells me that the entire clan weapon range needs attention and fixed items need to be reevaluated. It's not so much that the balance compared to IS is gone; it appears to be rampant within the clan mech range.

Unlock endo and FF for all mechs, heck, even a few more engines to choose from, dial down all clan energy weapons and improve ballastics. So, make them more like IS.

As far as the TBR and DWF are concerned: hardpoints where handed out like candy. Big mistake. Unfortunately, I do not think those P2W hardpoints can be taken back.

I don't plan to refund my wave 3, but I will not spend another dime on this game as long as PGI is at the helm. I supported this game with a couple k of my funds, but more so with hope. I held out hope since getting in to closed beta. Now I am not complaining about PGI's rabid nerf swings, but every balance act they make is an extreme swing as a whole. Every implementation is a severe knee-jerk reaction
.
Granted, they did briefly get better with PR and listening to us after the whole Transverse thing, but that does not forgive several years of lies and half truths. I remember the good, but I also remember the bad. Now that my friends does not balance because the bad out weighs all the good.

There was a time I cared so much because this was better than the `Mech game we "didn't have", now it feels like this game is on life support. I know they have to pay the bills, but bleeding us dry with cash grab after cash grab is not the way to do it.

For years PGI has not included the population counter to show us who is online at any given time. There is a reason for that. Despite whatever pitch they use to justify not activating that feature, they simply do not want us to know how stagnant the game population is. I remember Russ letting it slip that during the first CW event there was approx 1500 people playing CW at any given time, I'm surprised he let that out. That is a low number considering it was an "event". Games in closed beta pull down better numbers than that.

I love the Battletech and Mechwarrior history and lore, I love playing this game with my brothers. I just cannot justify giving PGI one more cent of my money.

Like my brother Badkarma, I will not cancel my Wave III purchase as much as I want to it is considered bought and paid for. This, I have struggled with as soon as I seen the quirk changes coming in the May 19/15 patch. I have also been on the fence about getting Resistance 2 but alas will not be doing so. Like my brother I have put a lot of money into this game for packages and MC and try to support this game any way that funds allow (and internet connection for that matter).

All these constant major changes to game play just shows how in over their heads PGI is with this license. Without fixing the root issues (hard cap on heat being the 1000# gorilla in the room). We are told that the Quirkening will not happen again and that fast small changes will be implemented, ha! ya...sure...for negative quirks on the over quirked Inner Sphere `Mechs or when adding positive quirks for the terrible Clan `Mechs. This patch shows us that just running the stock Timber Wolf and Stormcrow will be suicide. Extremely long beam duration that we already tried during the first Clan "adjustment", and then add on an extremely long recycle time? Damn that is a recipe for disaster against pretty much anything.

Everyone complains about the Clan laser vomit, guess what? Most of the Clan players would like to get away from it also, but the rest of our arsenal just plain sucks. We have nothing other than Gauss (and shut-up right there about Clan Gauss being lighter and taking up less critical slots, if you haven't noticed the Clans lack any form of major customization which is the reason that it is lighter and takes up less space) that does PFLD. Our missiles stream on in so AMS can take it out quite easily and our Autocannons are well....I can't even describe the pain in my brain when using them.

If the game does not have a strong foundation it will eventually crumble just like a building. By us straying so far from BattleTech and trying to make this an E-Sports game (which it fails miserably at as none of the tools that would allow it are even released to the public!) the main people who funded this game the Founders/Lore hounds and dare I say majority of the whales are leaving. It is the people that have a passion for the License that will keep this game alive not your average Free2Play person.

Without making a proper new player experience, new players just get frustrated and quit. Take Ghost Heat for an example very little is said in the `Mechlab about it other than you get extra heat because you have 4 ER Large Lasers. Then add to that the modules that change base values for weapons, this is not even close to allowing a new player to get an understanding of the game mechanics.

The game is starting to falter and what I have listed above is just a little portion of the problem. There is a lot more to the issues at hand and there are a lot more issues. I know this all falls on deaf ears but oh well, as it says on the side of my Nitrogen pumper's tank "Venting is normal" and I guess I just needed to vent.

I refunded the wave 3 pack when I looked at the price difference between the IS package and wave 3...was pretty insulting and now I feel even better about refunding after these dumb nerfs. I'm using clan mechs less and less they dont feel like sleek powerful machines anymore they are feeling more and more weak and no fun to play. I do a lot better in my firestarter a than any of the clan lights, I do pretty decent with my king crab than my dire wolf...I just simply regret putting the amount of money I have in this game.

I know it's totally my fault but...this is how I learn my lesson by not giving my money away anymore. If I were to choose which pack I'd get if I had to I'd choose the r2 pack. Not gonna spend anymore money on this game though. Not until it gets a story which we all know is never going to happen.

pgi has earned every negative remark the players have commented.

I really wish more people would close their wallots and make them squirm for a change.

Also this will just get me to stop playing cw all together the scr and tbr were the only truly competitive none sacrificial mechs to use.

also I haven't bought a mech since the first wave. They were fun when they were new but they feeling just as old as the is mechs look.

The sudden introduction of a new "irresistable resistance deal" suggests they're having trouble selling it.

I had no problems resisting 3x4 varieties of energy boats with randomly redistributed hard points. Until laser hitreg is fixed, it would just be painful trying to level energy Mechs which deliver half their nominal damage.

what differences are you looking for, the patch is on the 19th

Bet I won't even notice the difference on the 19th, you know why? Because the changes I saw were pretty minimal.

And worst case scenario is you change your ER lasers to Pulse lasers, use a few less... add some DHS and still wreck face.

I already run pulse lasers only to reduce face time... the old quirk on the TBR-A was already quite noticeable and now it will be much worse.

I cancelled my wave III mainly because my $273 Wave I is much diminished in value (includes TBR-A). It is a nice way to express that $120 clan over $80 IS is plain silly and that I do not wish to invest in quirk roulette.

so basically medium lasers are gonna come back with force but will likely get nerfed as well after people get really good at using them to kill super fast.

The whole approach to game balance, quick and dirty bandaid instead of addressing problems, is a reason sufficient for me to stop supporting the game. Other players may feel differently but I need to feel an "inner elegance" in a game, this is quickly becoming the opposite of that, way too many "creative solutions" for me to stomach.

Now, I already bought clan wave 3 and don't want to go through the refund process but I will not buy the resistance 3 pack, regardless of how much I like the mechs, the bonuses etc, this will be the first pack I do not own.

Given PGI's track record in resisting reasonable suggestions and sticking with whatever they decided to do probably will mean that this one customer, usually worth at least 500$/year, is lost.

It is a shame because I really appreciated all the features they have been so actively adding during past moths.

i wil still buy every new pack. the game may have balance issues, but i have been waiting over a decade for another mechwarrior title. i am not about to let it slip away so easily. to a large portion of the playerbase, they are too young to know how that feels.. to have a franchise game you so love just fade like that. if MWO fails, the Mechwarrior name wil be considered toxic and there will never be a true MW 5, and i refuse to give up on that dream

As much as it pains me to say this, that's poor logic. The mechwarrior name would not be considered toxic unless all people did was look at these forums. Oddly enough past developers are lots at also. MWO has proved there is money to be made with this license so it would just take a dedicated developer and publisher to pick it up if MWO was to fail. Think of how many people put money into Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous because they were unhappy with the direction of MWO, money that would have went into MWO but sadly didn't.

It is a double edge sword, but most people would be able to see that MWO is a game without clear direction other than its loosely based off of Battletech.

The toxic part is coming from the newer generations that are used to having the illusion of complete balance and don't realize that Battletech was never meant to be balanced. The people who play MOBAs, etc, we can never achieve pure balance in this game the only way to do that is to lock everything into stock configurations and set up proper stars vs lances. Which in the end most likely still wouldn't make everyone happy, personally I would have no issues with everything being stock as long as the guys I've been playing with since MechWarrior 2:Mercenaries are by my side and having fun.

@whitefang,

I seriously believe you are overreacting here.

Slight nerf to TBR, SCR, 4N and FS9 was just the right thing to do.

(Not saying the game is perfect now)

slight nerf sure but they were hammered, and its not like they make much sense, as the streak and splat crow are the ones that get complained about, yet they nerf lasers, the srm splat wolf is also far more effective than the laser vomit, but again its the ebergy weapons that take the hit, sure the shoulder mount is high but, you darn well know its going to over heat, then its dead..

Okay, I get that the round of nerfs will knock out the T1 mechs for both sides, and given that the Clans have fewer mechs to work with, it's going to hurt them more. But you nailed it that the Wave III mechs are almost certainly going to have better quirks and be more desirable.

This is a free-to-play game; I don't think a lot of you understand what that means.

The ONLY way PGI makes enough money off this thing to keep making it is selling mech packs and, to a lesser degree, Premium time, camo packs, or whatever. They will CONSTANTLY be tweaking the meta so people will flock to, and buy, the new "POWERMECH." It's a business - if they want to stay in business, they have to get people buying new stuff.

If the Stalker 4N, for example, remained as is, why would any IS player need anything else? They might need 3 other mechs to round out their decks, or grind up the Elite levels on Stalkers, but where's the incentive to keep spending money?

If this game were subscription-based, or if a large population were going and paying $60 on it, then they wouldn't need to. But that's not the structure that MWO has - it's free-to-play, so expect PGI to shift the meta like this about once a quarter, and expect those changes to favor the newer mech packs or mechs that aren't selling so well.

I'd love a subscription structure right now; at least it's easier to realize that each dollar you spend is spent for being online and not for collecting pixels in a virtual hangar that loose their value.

I spent 10 years working on the mechwarrior registry. When mw4 died and the franchise fell apart it was heartbreaking . Myself and a few die hards built new maps, created better servers, found ways to make the game more fun, added new mechs...but it was all in vain. I am happy that a new mech title lives and hope it survives.
