After that we lost even the hope of reaching a proper balance, it will be an eternal cycle of buffs/nerfs and arbitrary changes.
I used to think ghost heat and ECM were bad, what a fool.

Quirks was a good start. I think a good idea, even. But poorly implemented, and now a bandaid. So I can totally agree with you, even though I wish I didn't.
but 50% registration ACs and SRMs, along with intermittently impervious Mechs, especially certain Lights? Does more to detract from my enjoyment than anything.

Instant convergence+GH+ECM+quirks= "PGI".
Is "PGI" valid as single thing I don't like?
edit: forgot the reason: pgi applies stupid/inappropriate patches to cover stupid mistakes they did, instead of solving the issues themselves, and, in this way they create new issues in the process.

The grind. It prevents me from having fun messing around with various new mech builds because it's such a gigantic pain in the ass hassle and every single time I build a new mech, without fail, the tedious, worthless, boring grinding involved to get a mech properly set up ruins my fun for hours.
Even with all the other issues present in the game, the grind is the biggest obstacle that prevents me from having fun. If it weren't for the crapfest grind to build and outfit new mechs I could easily see myself playing more and brushing the game's various other issues under the rug a bit more while I would enjoy messing around, but I can't even do that without preferring to smash my head into a wall instead.
I would just like to note that fixing such issues would not necessarily make me spend any significant amount of money on the game (beyond more mech bays anyways) because almost everything is overpriced, but that's a separate issue.

As in doubling many early values, leading to further imbalances and then adding in systems like Hardpoints, Heat Scale (Ghost heat) and so on instead of going back to square one and looking for a different way to translate P&P stuff to the cryengine.

If mechs just got sluggish, slow and had danger for ammo explosions at high heat Ghost Heat would not be necessary.
Ironicly i don't boat weapons. Instead i focus on having at least 1 long range weapon and the rest is medium/short range weapons.
