Why would you list a Cent? Cents are not considered bad mechs, especially the AH! BJ's suck because Jager's exist.

I agree Cents aren't bad mechs, but those builds aren't exactly the usual high alpha builds we see.
Meh i'd take a Blackjack over a jager anyday, i don't need to hide at the back with dual gauss to have fun or do well.

Most people consider actually using the ballistics arm for anything but MGs on a Cent, a bad build, because SRM Zombie is the only "good" Cent. Just tells me most Cent pilots don't know how to twist. Personally I think the Zombie builds are crap.

That CN9-D is what I run (plus 300XL) got to say, in no way shape or form is that a bad mech, though I'm sure our CompMasters would disagree. It might be my most consistent performer. Seems like 580ish dmg and 2-3 kills is the norm for that thing. Obviously I have some worse, and some better, but the amount of matches I land numbers in that range with that mech is uncanny.

I agree its not actually a bad build if you play it right, but its certainly not a comp worthy build.

I suppose it depends on the definition of bad.

I don't consider the Catapult as bad, but I'm sure others do. I feel the Jester and K2 are pretty decent and the other Catapults are a bit mediocre. So IF the consensus is that the Catapult is in fact a bad mech, I'd consider that my #1 choice.

Now, if we are talking CLEARLY bad (even I agree it's bad), then my real #1 choice would be the Vindicator. The Vindicator is too large for it's weight. Worst of all, the Vindicator has terrible hitboxes, weapon locations, and the atrocious 1X loadout limitations. It's so bad that PGI still doesn't acknowledge it on the website under "Battlemechs" :).

The Vindicator's problems seem to stem from it being a bit large for a 45 ton Medium. It is about the size of 55tonners when it should be a bit closer in size to the Hunchback (a bit taller at most).

The Vindi also has HUGE arms. Not just the PPC barrel arm from the side, but the front profile as well. The front profile of the arms are as big as the side torsos. This means the arms get blown off very easily...and guess where most of the weapons are...yup, the arms. You will spend a lot of time in a Vindicator firing your lone head laser (assuming you aren't using the lone missile hard point).

Lastly, the Vindi 1X is the worst. 3 ballistic hard points on a 45 ton mech is just a bad decision. Worse yet, it makes you suffer by reducing the energy hard points to 2 (one being the 1 crit space head laser). You need to run such a big fragile target fast, so a big engine is almost mandatory. With that engine, you aren't going to carry a loadout worth carrying. The 1X is a sad sack. Even if it had 2 energy in the arm, it would be a whole different case.

TL;DR Anyway, my #1 pick is the Vindicator.

And yet I absolutely rock my Vindis. But yeah, the consensus is "crap". BTW; I think their hitboxes are pretty decent actually. My 1AA is a total keeper.

My favorite bad mech is a whole line.

Comm's

I love how agile and pesky the are. Flying around at 171.1 kph is a hoot.

One of my favorites.

I see Proton driving it a lot, so that should say something about it's evil effectiveness.

I couldn't even tell you the last time I played a Battlemaster before the challenge this weekend. The 1G is still pretty damn good. The high hardpoints are great, and I agree about the cockpit. It's a good design.

I ran 3 Large Pulse and 3 Mediums in mine during the challenge.

Mine would be the Gargoyle with either 12 smalls or 8 small pulse. Either build wrecks face in a brawl.

350XL and 4x LPL in mine. Worked OK, considered PPCs, but never found build I realyl liked.

SHD-2H(P) The SHD isn't a bad mech by any means but it has fallen off the radar since Quirkpocalypse arrived.

Add in the lack of any pinpoint weaponry and an XL engine then you have my all-time favourite mech out of all the ones I own.

Blackjack, specifically the Arrow. I don't exactly wreck face in it, but find it to be an inordinate amount of fun, even with the limitation of having all the energy hardpoints in the torso, having no real way to shield your side torsos, and not having access to a 250 engine. I really liked the Nova's as well, especially the prime. I know the Nova isn't total crap, but it isn't exactly top-tier. I came up with a build once that had one of every energy weapon on it: I called it, 'I ain't afraid of no Ghost! (Heat)'. In fact...

same. Why wouldn't I? I never die without losing both arms, half the time, a leg, and being totally stripped of armor on the entire torso, anyhow. Even rudimentary twisting and you can shrug off all but the most precision of shots.

I don't but it feels like it's Large, and I think the Dragon gets Medium? McGral seems to always know these things. Quickie certainly should be a "medium" archetype, also.

Sorry to disappoint- the Quickdraw uses the 'Large' archetype.

I still love it. I'd make the model (and movement archetype) smaller, of course, though not a whole lot. I'd like to rework the IV-4 to have a higher engine cap and maybe move the CT lasers to the side torsos. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with where the QKDs are.

Also, I was driving Thuds and liking it before they got quirked. [/hipster]

Mine would be the Treb-7K with a uac 5, 2 mpl, and 2 srm4's. With an XL300, it's a great flanker as everyone ignores you thinking you are not a threat. Had many good comebacks with that mech. Runners up would be: QKD -5K (2 LL, 2 ML, 2 Flamers), all commandoes except TDK cause it's a BEAST, and I guess my ON1-K/VA. I don't see how Orions are bad though. I do pretty well in the K and VA. And I find the oddball loadout of the Protector rather fun actually.

Centurions are always an XL for me (then again, most of my Mediums are anyway minus the Hunchbacks).

As for the Vindi, I still feel the arms are big. My arms get stripped all the time it seems. I do think the torso hitboxes are decent though. Yea, it's a keeper.

Strangely enough I kinda like the Vendy 1X.
Taking advantage of the current quirks, I put a PPC and an LBX10 on it.

It is fun, but I get it. The Vindicators are for the most part an exercise in death wish fulfillment.

LOL

For me, even with weapons in them, big arms are a plus. I can survive missing an arm. Can't survive (with an XL) missing an ST or worse, getting CT cored. And I'm so used to protecting my arm or RT on my Cents and HBKs that it's not really an issue on VNDs. On my 1R I still can't decide between both PPCs in one arm, or one in each though.... there are advantages either way, and drawbacks. ( I still run my 2x PPC / 3x MLasers build on it)

I love picking apart SRM Cents in my Gauss Cents. My zombie A is only a zombie because of sentimental value and my D does much better with XL anyways.

My little Kit Fox Prime(I) in the Alpha Configuration is hands down the most fun 'Mech I have. Good Kit Fox build? Not great, but I have so much fun with it. I still cannot figure out why people give Kit Foxes in general grief. They are really fun 'Mechs.

Horribly designed mech for MWO. Cant XL in them do to that LT, small arms so you cant shield and when you twist, it seems everything hits the STs.

Eh, they aren't great hitboxwise, particularly compared to some mechs out there that can soak like a champ, but I have always found the XL thing overstated. My VA has run a 340XL since they came out, and still has a near 4/1 KDr. They are mediocre Hitboxes, IMO; not horrible but not really great at anything, either.

For me Mogs, the Orion has always been just a faster Atlas with less armor. I like running STD engines in mine and the loadouts have unknowingly copied the Altas builds.
My K is AC20, 4 ML, LRM15 and my VA is AC20, 2 ML, 4 SRM 4.
The V is another beast I haven't found a build I want to stick with. Currently got 2 AC5, 2 SRM6, 1 SSRM, and 2 ML. The V was my first heavy so it left a strange taste in my mouth after piloting mediums and lights exclusively until then. I particularly like the survivability of a STD Orion compared to the XL counterparts I ran, plus they are cheaper. With me trying to purchase an engine for every one of my lights and mediums, C-bills don't stay around long in my hanger.

Every time I ran man it felt like as soon as the brawling started, people would shoot the RT and I'd be left with nothing. Sort of like how Atlas pilots feel!
