At the sacrifice of having to be completely dependent on ammo, you've managed to make a Nova that has three tons less armor and accomplishes 2 less DPS than your standard run-of-the-mill 12-small boat.
I understand quirks make up for some of that armor, but it's just not enough.
At least you have more range, though.
I hope you keep having fun with it. =)

Now let's go through it weapon by weapon.
The AC/2s require a ton of face-time. You will need to stare at the enemy to deal any damage, even moreso than with IS AC/2s because the clan ACs shoot two projectiles instead of one. Second, clan ACs are inferior to clan UACs in literally every way save for heat, and even then there is not enough of a heat difference to make up for the extra slot that ACs require and the lack of double tap ability. Seriously, clan AC/2s take three crit spaces, whereas clan UAC/2s take up only two. So there is no reason you should ever use the normal autocannons.
Second, both those autocannons are in the right torso. So if you lose that you're hosed. Furthermore, the torso doesn't have nearly the amount of pitch and yaw that the arms have. On the other hand, putting them with one in each of the arms means you'll lose them that much faster, because Novas shed arms like dogs shed fur. And ultimately, IS AC/2s and clan UAC/2s are both utterly worthless weapons in their current state as far as DPS, alpha strike damage, and the amount of time needed to stare at an enemy to do any damage at all.
Next, the machineguns. You do not want 2 MGs on a mech if you can help it. They are more effective when there is more than two of them. If you have a ridiculous laservomit Timber like I do with 2 LPLs and 4 ERML then you can get away with having two for some heat neutral damage and component critting should a brawl arise. But wih the measly firepower of the AC/2 you simply do not have the damage required to strip the armor off a component - and MGs are most useful when a component has no armor because of their insanely high crit chances.
The reason that some Nova builds run quad MGs is because those builds have the high damage alpha strikes that lasers produce, and those alphas are necessary to strip the armor and make the machineguns useful.
Finally, we have the SSRM 4. The issue is that you really use streaks for hunting lights, and this is for several reasons. First, they weigh more than SRMs, so if you're going for brawling you want the weapons that weigh less. Second, you can't fire without a lock, and in a brawl you will often be hard pressed to maintain a lock. Third, the advantage of the streaks that makes their greater weight worthwhile is that they home in - but anything heavier than a light is usually too slow to dodge well-aimed ordinary SRMs. That means they are best for killing lights.
To use SSRMs for that purpose you will need speed - the Nova has insufficient speed for light hunting - and also some way to counter ECM, because it is everywhere these days, and a lot of lights carry ECM. And that means an active probe: beagle active for IS and clan active for clan mechs. You don't have CAP.
Not only does the build not have the clan probe, the Nova is cursed by low available tonnage because it has standard structure instead of endosteel and standard armor instead of ferro-fibrous - and those are locked in, because the clans can't upgrade or downgrade those attributes. So while clan active probe only takes one slot and one ton instead of two slots and one and a half tons like the IS beagle active probe, it's still one less ton on a mech that is strapped for tonnage.
Now, I just want to be clear: I'm not trying to be shittin on your build to be mean. I'm trying to explain to you why I personally wouldn't choose that build. If you can make that build work I say more power to you - and not only that, it would prove you to be a hell of a well-skilled pilot too.
But with that said, I would recommend looking for another ballistic build for this mech. In my opinion, there actually aren't really any good dakka builds for the Nova. It lacks the tonnage for both the weapons themselves and the ammo. Think of it this way: if you choose little guns you have to stare at the enemy, exposing your fragile body for long periods of time. If you pick big guns, you'll have too little ammo and you'll have to get in much closer to the enemy, which means you will get shot to pieces since Novas don't brawl well.
That is the advantage of the laser builds - no ammo, high damage even at range, and less face-time than the lower damage ballistics require. While it is true that the small laser / SPL penis-punching builds require you to get in close too, the alpha is so high compared to a ballistic weapon - and the damage is focused on one component instantly instead of spread all over with multiple bullets - that those builds work.
I hope you don't take this post personally. I'm trying to be constructive - saying a build sucks isn't useful because the information that matters is *why* a build is ineffective. This is why I went into such detail; I am trying to give you an idea of what Novas do well and what they fail at doing well, and why those things are the way they are.
Hope that helps!

It´s absolutely devastating in a brawl... just have to get close enough ;-)

just one thing, you realise the C arms have 32 armor right, and the B ballistic has 16, thats one and a half tons of armor i can remove from the mech with no effect on its toughness, the rest tends to be negligable armor loss
and the heat is a huge factor, this thing is nigh heat neutral, playing carefully and it can still go over the 800 damage mark, it simply requires a different more crafty style, ya aint accounting for the 20% ballistic fire rate

You might try dumping the MGs for a pair of side torso ERSLs. Put them on your "cooldown" weapon group. Works better than MGs when you just need to kick out that little extra bit of damage and don't want to eat 18 pts of heat to do it. The damage goes right where you want it instead of all over the place...

Basically a boxer, you've got your jab arm (smalls) and your hook arm (mediums)
Still a completely viable build, even with the current state of the game. Heat is manageable, especially when you consider how huge of a punch 6x CERML can dish out in one shot. Make sure to use your JJ's for popping and shooting,
Only other build I've tried is 8x ML, which is ok, but I prefer to have more firepower in a single arm than have it spread across both arms.

That does look really mean. I'd be worried about the legs though since they tend to take a bit of punishment from all that jumping.

also people, who claim that only laser nova is viable, forget probably the most viable build, it's duo ppc nova

I'm thinking about running it as a mid range fighter, using it's jump jets to get into a good position and running cool enough to get off several volleys before I have to back off.

last time I checked the prime omnipods are the least common and a 6 medium laser 4 machine gun or 6 medium pulse (using S hardpoints) was the most common...

For that usage profile though I'd argue this:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e76fd669e22abc8
Does the job better.
The Nova is not unforntunate IMNSHO. It is actually an extremely flexible chassis that can imitate pretty much any normal Medium configuration that doesn't involve missile spammage, which is really the Adders thing. Most people seem to run the Stormcrow either loaded up with SSRMs or their prefered flavor of laser vomit. Their playstyle in turn seems to involve them just running around like a chicken with its head cut off before being put out of their misery by a brief application of concentrated firepower.
The big hump above the cockpit and the highest energy points being cockpit level means the Stormcrow it's not viable for hill humping or practical sniping, unlike the Nova. It can't jump so it can't get in nice sniping positions, unlike the Nova. It's use of FF and ES means it simply doesn't have the crits to boat the heatsinkage the Nova knifefighter build calls for. Combine that with it's limited mobility options, and it's kind of in a sucky position to try to isolate and rapidly take down Mechs in the style of the knifefighter Nova build. The Adder makes more sense as an SRM boat as it doesn't have a large sign above it's cockpit asking you to please kill it, and thus is liable to actually sneak up on something so it can use them.
Based on what I've seen in the field I'm at a loss why people are even scared of the things. They seem to just die right and left to little effect. Adders can be dangerous little buggers. You need to be mindful of the EBJs and keep an eye on the Novas, but Crows? Crows are basically just walking targets.

you probably should see the right people using the, because crows are way better than a Nova.

it's kind of low on podspace for most of ballistic builds too; so it's 'any normal medium energy configuration'
but again, arm hardpoints...

laser vomit on crows it is the concentrated firepower, as much as clan lasers can be concentrated, just as concentrated as most of nova builds (except the double ppc one) and is much safer to run than on nova; as for streaks, that's a supportish build, and pretty effective if used right and vs right targets. btw, from my experience, a streakcrow, despite some people thinking that it isn't suited to fight laser assassins, has a good chance to take over your knife fighter nova from below in its game because it can outdps that 12 sl nova if it chains the streaks while twisting the laser damage, and also most of nova's firepower is situated in the arms, at least one of them will be torn out in the duel (which might even be good for nova, lol, takes longer to overheat). you should aim pretty well to win that duel; and finally, stormcrow usually can simply run from nova if the battle seems unfavorable shielding the back with its arm if needed... nova cannot run from stormcrow in most of situations
Quote
compare the pics (pics are from the google, green arrows show their highest energy hardpoints, orange ones show their cockpit, added by me)
Quote
so you don't even snipe with ppc in the jump... and that's the most meta nova build
Quote
stormcrow has severe negative quirks on laser boating, it won't try to run 12-13 sl, it will rather run 2 lpl 2ml or 5-6 mpl etc
Quote
89 kmh vs 107 kmh... which one has limited mobility options, again
Quote
adders are a large fragile target (they need rescaling just like nova and kit fox)
they drive less attention but it doesn't help them much

Tis not the best build
Best Nova is:
cAP
1x cUAC/10 ( Torso mounted, 2 tons ammo)
3x cERSL
3x cSPL (same arm and weapon group as cERSLs)
You'll be killin, Stormcrows, and Timberwolves, and Marauders... I never actually found one but doya think if I cut one open with my (laser) knife it'd spill out Gold Bars?
-Bonus points to anyone who gets that reference.
In all seriousness, I main a Nova and that build tussles with the tier one mechs like a boss. You could build the same thing with a stormcrow if you'd like a bit of extra armor and a speed boost, but I prefer my jump jets.
