Signs Of Life?

During that time, with the mercs mostly in the IS, the Clans were shoved all the way up into the Periphery and it looked like maybe the unthinkable would happen and each would be left with a single planet.
But...
CJF took two worlds from Steiner and CGB nabbed a couple from the FRR. Life? Is the old band getting back together?

I would love nothing more then to be playing CW again. But alas the problems are worse this time around for low pop factions.

I think any Smoke Jag fans ought to bide their time and defend other Clans, possibly even switch temporarily to another faction and come back later. Whatever you do don't drop on attack against Kurita right now. You know the current rules will never let them conquer your last world, so they can't remove Smoke Jag from the game.
Kurita could get bored and lose some strong units (ironically exactly what happened in beta 1 b/w Kurita and Smoke Jag, with roles reversed). Or they could get some actual opposition on another front which would divert their focus from the Jag border.
Or there could even be another event with some unforeseen wonkiness that lets Jags get back into the fight over one weekend.
Like someone else said, these pulses always happen with factions and guilds. You just have to wait long enough and everything changes.

ROFL, yep!
It's funny. People claimed Mercs were OP and needed to be nerfed to keep them from changing Factions. Now there isn't as much Faction jumping and people are complaining because there isn't a large enough population to drive combat.
PGI should never have lengthened the timer. I'll take action over inaction any day!

CSJ never really had MERC to speak of I have been here since day one and have seen some come and go like REM, but MS has yet to grace us with their presents, CI has no either. 228 is a group that come and goes but i dont really think they are mercs or see themselves as such and i was under the assumption they called the CSJ corridor HOME actually.
We did so well in the first beta because we had 3 decent groups (2 of which are semi comp, ourselves (SA) and Derp) as well as 228. We did a lot of work and played nightly. We knew how the mechanics works and used it in our favor. This was also before the STK 4N was brought up to tier 1 specs as well as before the Thud Fiasco....and slightly during. But either way Kurita has more units now then it ever had coupled with the junk mechanics makes it hard for small pop factions to do anything.
CSJ is not that much smaller or bigger then it has been since day one we have one of if not THE smallest faction in the game.
Their is no where near enough JAGS playing to get back into CW right now, you can forget it completly to happen over a weekend. It took 3 hours to get 2 pips on a planet last night with my 12 man unit. That translates to 0 (zero) planets per ceasefire BTW.

Agree with everything you said - I was talking about units in general not mercs (though I guess techincally they are all mercs). Some of the units might get bored and leave Kurita if they get too many IS fights and/or ghost drops. They can't attack any clan planets right now AFAIK, since SJ is down to one and it is not attackable.
What I meant regarding CW beta 1 was there was a point when organized Kurita wouldn't defend against SJ attacking their planets. The only ones defending were other IS houses, or Kurita solos doing whatever they wanted. Organized Kurita units attacked Davion and Steiner and Marik (for short bursts I believe). I am saying SJ should do that to Kurita now.
Unfortunately that would mean nobody to attack - unlike Kurita at the time who found a few targets to go after while ignoring SJ. But I feel this would be better than attacking and never flipping the planet due to the new mechanics and the # of good units in Kurita who are just looking for a fight with you. If you do somehow manage to cap Idlewild it would be instantly taken back the very next ceasefire.

More than happy to provide less than 50% so your unit can take the planet.

I was here for Tukyyid, I played it every day until the event was over. I have my banner of shame.
The truth about CW is this, and I think you know what I'm talking about, it lacks depth. There's no difference between factions besides an icon and color. We are all mercs and the system is set up to encourage floating around, going wherever the payouts lead us.
So, for now, all we have to influence our decision in CW is payouts. Its too shallow to offer anything more. So I'm going to stand by my point. Using the only tool PGI has, they've given you motivation to switch to clans right now.
I really wanted to live in CW, but it lacks so much I have way more fun dropping in the solo and group public queues.
We'll see how things are when the new 4v4 scouting mode comes out and PGI makes changes for Loyalists, Mercs and Lone Wolves. Until then, CW will be an inch deep and an inch wide and have about 100 people to play with.

This is true, there is no point in us taking planets we are really just looking for a fight at this point....CW is dead in its current form and needs to be revamped and the small guys need to be thought of first. Not the large units....They will make any mode/mechanic work as we can see already.
We have been doing it, last night we had a full 12 for a while (about 3 hours) and we made NO PROGRESS on taking back Idlewind. These mechanics favor groups of over 200 or more only and that just doesn't exist in our corridor, none really. We have about half a dozen units of that size the rest are small potatoes for this run.
And you are 100% correct, even if we take Idlewind back during NA prime time their are NO OTHER planets up for contention so it would be back in Kurita hands by tomorrow when I logged on.....so there is no point.
We already have Kurita Units pleading us for matches, they are in the same place we are right now "we dont care about planets anymore we just want fights?!?!"
We had an issue towards the end of BETA 1 pilots join other units for a day dump a few mill in their coffers and they do their bidding on the map. I dont know if PGI sees this as an issue, it is certainly an oversight IMO that a few players with massive amount of cbills can in fact hire units when there is no real game mechanic in place for this, more of an exploit. This makes Unit larger then they really are by hiring other SUPER units to help them which creates drastic changes in CW when these groups switch.

It's almost like it has nothing to do with OP mechs on one side or the other.
