Having just participated in the Phoenix challenge, this feels like a kick in the teeth. For one, our poll never even got face time in the launcher or an actual thread for it (you buried the poll so that only people who went digging through the "problems" thread would notice the edit that added the poll). Secondly, it's a CW event that favors people who own 4+ mechs of invasion variants (which would only make it 13 matches . . . only one more than the personal challenge). Then, on top of it, we're not allowed to play for the Inner Sphere, at all, if we want anything out of the challenge for owning any level of Invasion package.

Then, the REAL kick in the teeth is that you'll be releasing loyalty medallions for the clans (something that only Phoenix owners had, up to this point) which will be available for qualifying memebers; AND you're giving out HUGE rewards that STACK TOGETHER if people are able to field a full drop deck of (I)invasion mechs. For only 13 matches with a full drop deck they'll be getting nearly twice the rewards of the founders challenge and Phoenix Challenge COMBINED.

Nope . . . won't be playing this weekend, at all. I'm actually pissed at this ******** challenge in comparison to the others. Not only is it a kick in the teeth to Founders and Phoenix owners with the quality of rewards, but you're dragging us into a CW Game Mode that you haven't even made any real iterations on since the Tukayyid event. At the very least you should have made it more flavored akin to the Founders and Phoenix Challenge. Not drag us back into something you haven't had the time or ability to iterate or refine more for the next updates to CW.

EDIT: As a final note. PGI is on thin ice with me for this move. These patches through June better be worth it, or my support will be dwindling. I scraped together the money and bought a full Resistance 2 package with faith of what PGI is doing in the future. Don't make me regret that, please.

Wow. 50 CW points in 5 days. Ouch.
Actually its more like 12,5 :P

You overlooked that you can take up to 4 (i) Mechs into any CW mission, so you only need at least 13 CW missions with more than 80 matchscore, which should be possible in less than 7 hours ... unless you are fresh from the SIBKO :P

How the hell is that pay to win? Seriously? Do you people even know what the terms you sling around MEAN?

It's a bonus for having paid.

Pay to win, is having double heatsinks locked behind a paywall.

There are NO aspects of P2W in this game right now. And there have been NO events that are P2W.

Just because it doesn't cater to YOU doesn't mean it's not fair. Just because there is an event or bonus given to people who have spent money doesn't make it pay to win. At worst, you could call it pay to participate.... Like EVERYTHING else in the world.

Do you even read???

You haters are f tards, read the post next time., I never said P2W, or P2P. In fact said its not either of those things so peeps who have spent money on the game shouldn't be privileged in any way. Its F2P and advertised as such so everyone of us should be able to participate in every event. Otherwise change the business model. Ok leader boards are one thing and have never really had any great reward other then being the best, fine cool, thats great. But locking out a massive percentage of the population in an attempt to restart CW which in fact you need players on both sides for it to work but am only going to reward one side of the participants, that is messed up.

Actually everyone can participate in the event, just not to the level those who paid can.

Wasn't the IS population huge and the only reason CW died is there were no clanners and therefore no fights? This should fix that.

I have to say, this is a horrible event and a horrible precedent.

You have an event that will tear teams apart (IS loyalists vs folks who purchased the clan packs), yet works best with teamwork (CW). You have an event that excludes folks if they aren't in the right faction as well (Clans only get the the loyalty pin for the conquest challenge). It's one thing to offer bonuses for paying members (they paid, I don't see a problem with it), but you're excluding folks who paid already by requiring they be part of a particular faction, and excluding normal folks for the same criteria as well.

As the leader of an IS loyal unit, I can't break the contract and shift over to the clans for members who paid (Seriously, I don't think I have 60,000,000+ in the unit coffers), so I'm stuck as a unit and on a personal level. Even if we could, I have players who expect to stay IS, and have no clan mechs, so shifting over to clans excludes them from the event, or may simply have them leave.

I'm not going to leave some thread to leave the game or boycot this weekend. That would ring hollow, and honestly, I'm busy most of the weekend anyway, and because of the late start today, I likely can't finish the even even if I wanted to, so it's hardly a point. And PGI already has my money, and that won't solve anything here. But I think this event is poorly designed and balanced, and while I get what they wanted to do, This is possibly the most ill conceived event PGI has even run, and I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Next week, there'll be a new event, and maybe those people will get something. I would normally agree, but this is week 3 of the weekly event gig, each time it has catered to some group of players while giving everybody the opportunity to participate in a 'general' challenge. I expect next week will probably be a resistance package event. To be honest, of all the relatively horrible choices PGI seems prone to making as of recent, I like their weekly event things.

I think that's situationally different... plus there was a "decent" reward for doing it (Banshee Champion vs newly released Warhawk).

What would honestly get the IS to show up for this event? There's not really a goal otherwise.

Even a free Bronze medallion for each IS faction (for the newly meh 5% LP bonus) would at least be something to aim for.

I'd think there should be "more", but that's the minimally viable reward that should at least be offered to the IS so the "new Clanners" get a match.

Summoner (i) 70 tons
Nova Prime (i) 50 tons
Kit Fox Prime (i) 35 tons

Its 250 tons or 10 tons overweight.

Sure wished at this point there was a 240T package at sale time :(

Can I buy an invasion Storm Crow?? since it wasn't in my package originally??

Copied from event page.Underlined and bold the important parts. Looks a lot like the last 2 events. :
This Event is comprised of three distinct Challenges:
•Personal Challenge: all players are eligible for this Challenge
(...)
Even you poor loyalists have a chance to participate. Or you can just keep crying how PGI is being mean to you.

Don't know why I bother to answer, but let's try. I would draw you a picture but it takes too much effort.

> Founder/Phoenix Events
- CHALLENGE - All players can play with any mech
- TOURNAMENT - Leaderboard just for the Phoenix/Founders mechs. Best players get prizes. THIS IS NOT A CHALLENGE as this is not in your personal challenge list page.
- BONUS - Kills count toward poll/medallion bonus

> Clan Invation Event
- Personal CHALLENGE - All players can play with any mech

- Invasion CHALLENGE - Only players with Invasion or Gold Clan Mechs are ellegible. THIS IS A CHALLENGE as this is on your personal challenge list page.
- BONUS Invasion Planetary Challenge - Planets count for a global medallion boost. THIS IS NOT A CHALLENGE as this is not in your personal challenge list page.

This means that any IS player that doesn't wish to have 10 more red X in your Challenge page, are forced to leave their unit and join the clans. While this is not a problem for Merc units (they do this all the time), loyalists get themselves into a problem. How hard is that for you to understand?

So many pointless tryouts of game content even this game is in almost beta status. First of all: try to optimise it a bit better to be more playable on weaker game rigs. It is really heavy shame to have this otherwise very good game in so horrible shape ... FarCry engine should be renamed to CryMore ...

I believe you have 120$ Daishi Collection package? You can upgrade to Ryoken package for 60 bucks (and get bonus Adder).

Storm Crow-only A La Carte cost 55$

I have red Xs from challenges that were run before I started and from challenges that ran over weekends I couldn't play at all for various reasons. What's the big deal?

No, no. Completely different things!

Founders and Phoenix only required you to have those mechs IF you wanted to participate in the leaderboard - it was not part of the challenge per se (let's call it tournament style). This time, in order for you to complete a personal challenge (it's there, listed on your challenge page) you need to break contracts 2 times (paying to get out and then paying to get in again) and deal with other internal issues (bureaucratic) you may face within your unit.

So, not only short contracts benefit from this (price to break is lower) but for a Merc unit this is an "everyday" move - not loyalists, I'm sorry.

Everyone's contract is going to be broken for free today. Even if you are a loyalist and want to stay a loyalist. ;)

Nice move IMO - PGI is always doing these tiny thoughtful things for players and it gets lost or overlooked in all the forum rage.

It's not that of a big deal, but I am criticizing this regarding the fact that even if you have availability to fulfill the challenge, you need to embrace a procedure that, once again, favors mercs over loyalists and, in contrast to both previous events, it requires specific mechs (that not everyone have). I am arguing is that this even is, by it's rules and constrains, very different from the last two.

I don't think that is true. Only contracts with less than 3 days are going to be broken. Unless I am not reading correctly the information.

If you want to change your faction you need to cancel your contract before 2:45 PM PDT

Usual 3 day penalty will be nulified.

My opinion is there's no clan's in CW because clan are sick and tired of the quirk imbalance and constant nerfs from IS crybabies that don't understand how to kill clans. IS pugs get the nerfs for clans while top tier teams bringing optimized mechs and destroy clans (moderate skilled players) coordinated teams are key yes but (from my point of view) Tuk was won by more consistent coordinated clan teams then the IS could produce (thanks to clogged queue's).

I play CW when I want to, and when in clan contract I just don't want to play

Well...I'm up for it. Even if I was stuck on the IS side I'd still be up for it. Not like CW gets a ton of players in it all the time. This is a good opportunity to get my faction rewards up in CW.

I'm expecting a Resistance event maybe next weekend. I'll probably switch back to IS for that....just in case it's in CW too.

Thanks PGI!

It would seem to me that complaining about red X's next to the challenges is probably the least important thing to complain about. Secondly, the rewards available for the general challenge are much better than what was available for the Founders Phoenix events.

Now, as for the Invasion-only challenge portion, you do have a point in that the prizes are much better than what was available to the Founders and Phoenix tournament. Not only that, but they are all available to every Clan Pack owner, not just the 200 or 300 Elite players that could get to the top 50 in the leaderboards., and even then only the Top 5 reward was really worthwhile.
