There are many rumors floating around, so I'll make a brief statement to hopefully dispel anything untrue.

Due to some issues and disagreements within MercStar, a small number of us (about 15) have broken off and formed a separate unit so that we can continue to play together. This is less than 10% of the existing membership in MS. A handful of other members have also left MercStar for their own reasons and gone off to join other units.

There is a rumor that Deathlyeyes and Slincer "took the A team" to form their own unit, while there is some reason to perceive things this way, this is only optics and not truth. The more accurate version is that about 15 of us were pressuring Slincer and Deathlyeyes to create a new unit for us because we were not happy dropping with MercStar anymore. Slincer and Deathly resisted until the very end, but after a few months we brought them around to our point of view, and here we are. There have been some initial bumps, but it should be understood that this is a group of like-minded individuals who made the decision to leave together.

As for the main body of Mercstar, it appears that they will remain intact, albeit with some restructuring, but I cannot speak to that any further and I'll leave that for an actual MS leader to address.

I can say that we are in talks with MS and continuing to drop with MS in some situations, although in a more limited fashion. We are also attempting to maintain an open line of communication with MS and perhaps cultivate some sort of "allied" state, as most of the playing members of both units would prefer to continue to play together. While there are some members of MS that we have significant disagreement with, for the majority of MS as a whole we bear no ill will.

To Xavier:
We handled our departure very poorly, both in timing and in method. For that we publicly apologize and ask that you forgive us where we were ham-handed. We are sorry for any additional pain we have caused you in a time that has already been difficult. Please know that this was never what was intended, and we really feel badly for that aspect of this move.

To the rest of MercStar:
We apologize for anywhere we have mishandled our transition and hurt feelings or stomped on toes, and again, this was never our intention. We will continue to drop, and you know where to find us.

To the Mechwarrior community, MS is undeniably a fixture of this community and many many of you have passed through it's doors. Regardless of whether we stay members or not, I think it is important that we all do our best to make sure that MS continues to be a place for new and old players to join together in groups and learn how to play faction warfare. Many many of us found a place in MS and were able to grow out of our puggish ways due to training from drop callers like Kwea and Xavier, among many many others, and we owe them nothing but our thanks.

Our new unit going forward is called "Comstar Postal Service, with the tag CSPS". This is not set in stone, but it may be the name we continue to play under. The name was chosen because quite frankly, many many other names were already taken, however it has a little bit of comical+lore theme, that may be a fair commentary on the nature of those of us in the group. We will not be actively recruiting at the moment, as we are still getting our house in order, but we will most likely remain a significantly smaller unit than MS. Again however, we will do everything we can to maintain a close knit alliance with the larger MS community. I hope that the rest of MS will be receptive, but only time will tell.

Thank you for hearing us out,

CSPS
P.S. Wololo

As far as the above post is concerned I have no comment

A small group of players have left yes that I will confirm so now that only leaves us with 154 players at the moment.

As far as Mercstar is concerned due to some familial issues that I will be dealing with over the next couple months I am taking a step back from running the unit and investing the same time that I have been up to this point to focus on real life. I love this game and always have. Regardless of what people may think about me or about MS I have transformed MS into something that tries to help newer and upcoming players find their way in Faction play by offering them a tasted of coordinated team play, and although we don't win on average more than about 75% of the time we take time to educate people and try to help them find their ceiling. I am going on a walkabout and working on a couple side projects while taking a break from leadership duties.

I have handed those duties over to a couple very capable officers who will keep the lights on while I am away. One day I will return to MS but as for now I need this time for myself from a retrospective scenario if nothing else.

I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield. You may even find me pug wrangling a couple games.

This part is important. (MS) actually bothers to pick up mediocre players and help them to learn the ropes of FP and give them the chance to have fun in organized setting. Xavier even created a wiki site for mechs/builds/decks for those who want quick reference to start their footing in FP. In contrast, there are some prominent units that are simply content in siphoning off top performing players for the sake of stats and seal clubbing, thus making the MM even worse for the FP population--which has negative impact on pug experience and their willingness to drop in FP.

now back to your regularly scheduled rumors..........I heard that Bandito is secretly a wealthy benefactor who spends his days on the beach reading first edition novels to his children while they contemplate the works of Aristotle and Aristophanes.........? but then again that may just be a rumor.......

We have had 2 full rooms running for the past 2 or 3 days since the split. We are alive, and well, and despite comments made to multiple other teams since the split we don't smell THAT bad OR taste of elderberries.

it's a subform of latin commonly found in the Mercstar culture. Loosely translated, it means "get a small kill advantage then hide by our dropzones"

other interpretations could be "quickly, to the small sea creature 'mechs with clawed arms, turn on override" or "everyone shield el bandito so he can carry"
