For the record, the primary reasons that we've been Clan for both Tukayyid events was because:
1. We thought that wait times would be longer as IS (especially true for the first event)
2. With the recent buffs to the IS, we thought it would be more of a challenge to face them

Whichever side we think will have the shortest wait times is the one we'll choose.

This isn't quite true. At least one of MS's sub-units sticks to their lore all of the time. It just might not be Battletech lore.

I heard that MS won Tuk 2 with sheer numbers, even though according to the queue info the IS groups waiting outnumbered clan groups 3:1 for most of the tournament.
