Fantasizing About Wolfhounds...

All variants will be as fast as a 'Starter, and one will outstrip it by a good bit. Naturally the FS-9 will have the edge due to speed + jets, but it's a tossup whether the extra speed will be preferable to the Panther's jets.
(All of this is coming from a bona-fide Panther fan, I know full well they won't hit 'high-tier competitive', I'm just spitballing)
For a quick glance it looked like a Panther with that honking gun arm. One big weapon with a backup in the torso. But that backup, a generous array of beams tightly clustered together, will be soooo much more serviceable than a couple of small missile racks.
Now bearing in mind the abysmal twist and arm movement of the FS-9. Depending on quirks I can see leveling the W.Hounds then using the speedy variant to potentially go toe to toe with Firestarters on a regular basis.
just... fantasizing.

Black knight (stock MW4 M)
1 x Medium laser (Head), 2 x Large laser (Side torsos), 2 x PPC (Arms). Go nuts on the engine and heatsinks.
Black Knight (Hero MW4 M)
3 x ER PPC, 1 in each ST, 1 in right arm. (use this for the er ppc quirked black knight)
Mauler (Stock MW4 M mimic)
4 x Medium laser, 2 x LRM 10<, 4 x AC 2. Go nuts on engine/ armour/ AMS.
Mauler (Hero MW4 M mimic)

It's not about nostalgia, it's about having roughly comparable things with similar quantities of hardpoints and CHS space totals in Smurfy's to work with, so that I can look at the heat/cooling comparison and make decisions based partly on that.
Additional note: I played MW4 for all of about two minutes before the visuals/UI/control scheme grated on me too much to keep going. So I'm completely nostalgia-immune where anything from MW4 is concerned.

Black knight with 3 ER PPC has around 30% heat effeciency without pilot skills, double heatsinks, near max armour, and standard 300 as the engine, switch for XL to get a lot more heatsinks and speed if needed ASSUMING at least a 10% heat reduction quirk to the ER PPC total (ie 5% + 5%)
The other knight is also quite heat efficient hovering at 35% to 40% with standard engine.
The Mauler is quite heat effecient both 6 AC 2's with quite a lot of ammo, or the one with 4 medium lasers instead of 2 large from the stock, add DHS and you have this thing ready for battle.
This is mostly data from smurfy using place holder mechs.
Also how did MW4 graphics push you away?

I do hope the jenner gets fixed.
however I find this kinda funny.
For nearly 2 years straight, the Jenner has made nearly every other light mech obselete as well as the cicada... kinda funny how what once was the most best mech in game for the tonnage spread can become one of the worst...

Depending on durability quirks, I could certainly see something like this running around:FS9-A Wolfhound Stand In. You'd still be running at about 137 but you'd be a zombie light. You'd be doing what the Spider 5V wishes it could do . . . zombie and still pack a respectable punch.
However, if you still want that extra 10kph and some more firepower . . .FS9-A Wolfhound Stand In V2. Just shy of max speed (for the extra heat sink) with a lot of firepower at its disposal.
I love my Firestarters, they've always been my favorite mech of all time. That being said, the Wolfhound is going to be a hell-of-a lot of fun!
