i like the laser nerfs to the tbr, i hope it puts a end to the laser vomit era..
i'm having a load of fun with a 4 srm6+a and UAC20 build.

but it would be nice if the tbr could get some srm range quirks (10% or so)

what do you think?

Yes to missile based quirks so more people will attach the twin shoulder racks to their TBR as it should be!

You'll get nothing and you'll like it.

Let's just see PGI buff Clan ballistics all across the board and then take it from there.

In my opinion, weapon quirks are in place to give firepower to the mechs that are handicapped either due to lack of hardpoints, bad hitbox / geometry / hardpoint location and, in the case of clan mechs, lack of endo / ferro upgrades. The Timber Wolf is a fantastic chassis. So let's see what people can do with it when PGI has made clan ballistics worth using again.

The ballistic arm on the TBR-C is pretty much considered a joke to most Timber Wolf players, but it doesn't have to be that way. So let's see what happens with the ballistics before we go crazy with another round of weapon quirks.

So would many other things. Increased cooldown and damage would be nice too but I don't think they are exactly required.

OP, what's the case for buffing SRMs?

You've got a 75-ton heavy that goes 90kph with jumpjets. 4xSRM6 is 48 damage. UAC20 is 20 on the alpha with another 20 on the double-tap. That's 68 damage on an alpha, 88 damage with the followup.

The Orion can kind of match that on damage but loses on speed and maneuverability.

Sorry no buffs for the best mech in the game. Only thing I could support would be a clan wide srm buff.

Other IS mechs get 330m+ Srm range should just revamp both clan and IS SRMs

increase range to 300m or 330m and increase speed to 400 m/s

Clan dmg 2.2 ,, IS dmg 2.4 per missle.

no range quirks for anyone on SRMs

The ones that rely mostly on SRMs get a buff to range. That said, the range doesn't generally help. More useful for SRMs are cool-down and heat-generation. That's what you want on your omni-pods if you want to incentivize SRM brawling.

The only IS mech to get both missile range + velocity or missile range + spread quirks is the BLR-2C. Range is pretty worthless without both a velocity and spread quirk. Which is why people have asked for the range quirks on every other mech to be changed to almost any other missile quirk.

Clan SRMs also weigh less and take up fewer slots than IS SRMs. Clans also already have lock-on Streak 2-6 with 390m range.

So sure, let's just add to the powercreep.

No. There are a lot of mechs that are quite lighter than the TWF and rely on missiles and get no or only negligible quirks.

Jump Jets, that's a joke, CUAC20, another joke, and SRMs are a crap shoot. SRMS work great with good teams, but then again if you are on a good team you could replace SRMs with just about any other weapon and you would still win.

68-88 damage almost never happens in pugs, or again it doesn't matter because you are already stomping, or you saved yourself until the end of the match in which case you were not likely much help until the game progressed.

A 40-50 med laser alpha helps the team more early on and is more consistent source of damage.

I am not in favor of TW buffs, but it doesn't sound like you have played TWs with any regularity.

You know nothing about my experience with any mechs, so can it.

That was OP's brawler build that he was enjoying, not mine. There are 72-point alpha laser+SRM and 80 point alpha laser+SRM TBR builds as well that are flat out superior to anything the ON1 can take, even before accounting for the mobility and durability advantages.

We're also explicitly comparing a Clan brawler to an IS brawler. Any problems you cite with teamwork and tactics belong in another thread because they apply equally to both factions.

You think having a jump jet to get up hills and clear obstacles isn't an advantage? Have you tried piloting an Orion on Canyon Network? Or the DWF without jump jets vs the DWF with a jump jet.

I'm using a 6ERML+4xASRM6 build and it performs very well. Ofc rather hot, but that's only adequate considering the insane damage output and range versatility.

As for comparing an orion to a timber... You can't be serious. Got 4 ON1s mastered and like them quite a bit, but they are mediocre IS mechs without any effective niche, and a TBR just stomps them in any way. Even strong quirks couldn't change that.

Btw, just to make it clear how far the mechs are apart:
The equivalent to my TBR would be, including quirks, an Orion with 3xASRM6, 4 Large Laser, an STD375, and 20DHS. Good luck fitting that stuff into the mech. Then consider the CT having worse hitboxes than the timber, vulnerable arm based weaponry, etc...

That's the one thing I actually hate about mwo's timber. It makes other mechs pointless like nothing else in the game, save maybe the scrow in the med section.
