Is this really coming this summer? Any specific date?

I just bought a new Mac will be delivered next week for MechWarrior to replacing my aging i5 Pentium, can't wait to be back in the game after a year plus!

I don't think this will happen. Cryengine has been ported to Linux, which means it works as-is on SteamOS and should be easily portable on Mac as well.

PGI however really does not have the manpower or expertise to port MWO, even if the engine would support it, and since Microsoft holds the digital rights to Battletech and MechWarrior, it is extremely unlikely they will ever allow any licensee to port the game to non-Microsoft platforms.

I'd love to have MWO as a native game on Linux myself, but we will both have to be disappointed.

I would doubt it on the mac side on linux it works with wine google the youtube video on how to set it up.

one of the main reasons I would conjecture is that Microsoft owns the rights to the game they are only leasing them to PGI.

You could always bootcamp your mac :) (puts on the flame shield)

Honest question....

Why?

You bought a platform, that aside from being significantly overpriced, isn't suitable for the game you want to play.

Is there a specific overriding reason to get a mac, over a cheaper, more powerful and more suitable Windows 7 computer?

This.

I may just be bitter from a year of having to develop Apple things, FOR an Apple nitwit, but why on earth do you want to use a Mac to do it?

I mean if you could AFFORD the mac in the first place, surely you can shell out for a PC?

For 50% less I could of built you a custom Intel rig, running the latest mac OS and no hacks... very little chance of breaking the OS after updates. I think with Steams OS and their streaming games features even on Linux OS systems like Mint, at some point if not now there is a way to play it on Mac.
