You missed the most important question - is Joe MechWarrior Pro or Anti Pony?

Devs! Give this man alpha access for being the man.

This was great, thanks a lot for this...Joe Mcwarrior sounds remarkably like me except for his anti clan sentiments...that's racist ;)

Excellent work, Smiles. This was a fascinating read. Looking forward to seeing more data points in the future, when we get closer to release.

At the risk of getting too off topic, no amount of ads for Budweiser will ever make me want one... it is among the crappiest of crap beers... watered down **** and not even cheap. It can't even claim to be owned by Americans anymore (was sold to a Belgian conglomorate... one would hope that improved the quality, but sadly, no). If i'm going to drink ****, I reach for a Steel Reserve... at least it gets you ****** up without having to drink a 12-pack and is easily found almost anywhere ;)

I try not to drink any beer which can be compared to having intercourse in a canoe.

A bit back on topic: Ads are great. Having been immersed in an ad-centric world since my birth, I have developed multiple skillsets for ignoring or enduring ads without any measurable influence. Ads can be a source of information when they align with my interests, but are usually of no use to me whatsoever, however they generate revenue for many other actually substantial things which I enjoy, like F2P games, websites, etc.

All the way back on topic: Thanks again Mr. Smiles, this is a great undertaking and is quite useful in many ways!

P.S.: Well now, isn't the language filter a bit too restrictive?

Oh well, dear Mr.Smiles and dear Devs ;)
Translation is not about proudness, its only about development ressources and delay of patching into foreign languages...at least to me.
I really apreciate a good localized work but for mmos its nothing but troublesome - especially the smaller a company is.
EVE works pretty well with an english client and language channels and i would play it if it was not that boring game to me.
Star Wars Galaxies worked pretty fine english only with world wide servers back in its heyday.
Language is the least barrier for a good game in this modern times!

Awesome work, excellent survey and great analysis of the data. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and its nice to see once again that it isn't necessarily the most vocal groups that are in the majority.

I happen to wear his companies shirts on a regular occasion... They make products and get in fights you know.

This.
"This is Duncan Fisher, and we have another match coming up." *pop and hiss of a cola can* "Ah, Cola-Cola, when your heat sinks aren't enough."

Could easily be done better than that. Just thinking of all the Coke commercials before movies.

As long as they were destructible. Not that I disagree, but I'd love to eventually have statistics released of people who blew up certain signs for the heck of it.

just wanted to point out how much the coca-cola example made me laugh. that's an ad I would not mind hearing.

I'd like to reiterate clever in-universe advertisements are most welcome. It's the blatant and grating stuff that breaks immersion that isn't. Hardly any games manage to pull it off (fallout is one of the few that did imo) so it usually is rather despised. But if it's done right I don't people will mind at all, and if done well it could definitely add to the game.

Add in that there are already real-world companies represented in the BTU (like General Motors) and you can really have fun.

The best thing I have read on an online game forum ... since ... forever!

Seriously man you have a gift!

Informative and fun to read.

Just hope PGI were as bowled over as I was and take your data to heart!

I'm almost scared to poll for that. There are mysteries about Joe I might want to leave unexplored ;)

Though my gut tells me he's probably Anti-Pony. The loudest opinions on forums tend to be the ones in the minority, and if there's anything on the Internet right now that can be called "loudest", it's the presence of Ponies ^_^

See if the Ford Motor Company will pay you to include the Thorn in the game ;) You know, that 'Mech made by Ford Military Limited...

Or use Federated Boeing DropShips...

You know, I think I'm noticing that the people who made up these technology manufacturers had a lot of faith in the stability of these corporations over the millenia ^_^

I always assumed that many of the original companies were probably dead, and the names were just resurrected. (this happens quite a bit in industry, with companys either picking up a famous name, or a conglomerate renaming themselves to a famous name from a much earlier acquisition.)...
