today i was playing and figured i would hide till i saw the enemy mech turn his back to me, and wondered 'should i see which way he is facing on radar?' part of me thinks enemies should just show as blips like on seismic.what does everyone else think?

ECM already eviscerates radar as is. It doesnt need to be even weaker.
If anything radar needs to give MORE information. To make it equal to MK1 eyeball. And to help give light mechs more of a role in the game by making them better information providers.

I totally agree. Light mechs are constructed as recon units. There radar should be more sophisticated. Maybe then the light queue would get some influx

How about radar power? Maybe adjustable in combat?
Numbers need to be tweaked, but as an example:
1 ton = 4 bars of power.
+250M range = 1 bar (min 1 bar used for 250m)
Doritos = 1 bar (looks like seismic by default)
Targeting info -0.66 seconds = 1 bar (3 seconds default)
Default setup is Doritos @ 750m (3x250 + 1 Doritos = 1 ton)
(this similar to how it is right now)
So for doritos @ 1km @ 1 second info gather = 2 tons
Anyone played Shattered Steel? I really like the fact I could choose between engine (speed), laser recharge, and shield regeneration. (Maybe we can also have deformable terrain...?)

If they want a better use for recon make it like the MWLL system. If info is picked up on your mech when you are 2 km away scouting only your mech can pick up that enemy unless your light has a C3 computer too share info. Enemies appear as blips on the radar when entering your radar range but only info of what exactly the target is when you gain line of sight.

A long long time ago in a galaxy far away Mechwarrior 4 had active and passive radar modes that added a nice layer of depth to the gameplay.

And beyond that MWLL also had the same feature but then MWO came and said we will dumb down the radar system.
