Over the past few days, I've been messing around with a Warhawk LRMboat.

LRMs don't work guys. You can only do well with lasers and Gauss. /S

Now, full disclosure: Im biased against LuRMs

But

I am thinking the more mobile LRM platforms may actually be worth a d*mn...in skilled hands.

Warcawk can do everything but tank. Im saving my c-pennies to get my 3rd variant.

All its missing is its OP torso with high weapon mounts...maybe some structure buffs???

first...every clan mech should have a TC1 equipped...period...no need for higher level than that, and fools if you dont run it.

second...the WHK is a solid LRM boat. problem is...are you able to provide the support you're designed to give? In CW, theres a lot of long range pop tarting and sniping, but no one locks targets unless in a brawl. Even then, you have ECM cover for most mechs. even with adv target decay, you cant get a clean lock long enough, and most missiles still miss when lock goes away. not enough players use narc or UAV's to allow the WHK to be a proper support mech.

Yes, I can pop 1200 damage just from a 3x LRM 15-Artemis and 4x MPL + TAG + BAP + TC1 WHK, but its never consistent. you're almost better off running dual ERLrg lasers and sitting back like the rest, or taking off an LRM 15 and dropping on 2 LPL and 2 ERMed lasers.

unless u have a clan ur working with, or an experienced team, playing LRM support doesnt work well in most CW situations.

The biggest mistake people make when it comes to LRMs is they get the notion that you need other people to get locks for you. You should be hunting for your own direct locks instead of crying to your team to hold locks.

As for most missiles missing, that's largely on player skill. An experienced LRM player learns when to take shots and when not to. When to stop firing because he knows his lock will end before those missiles reach the target. Remembering which targets have radar deprivation and which ones do not. Learning to quickly gauge which targets are unreliably held and which ones are likely to be steady.

I run a LRM70 WHK with 1800 ammo its great, the most successful WHK I own in fact. Due to the pug life I have put a UAV consumable on the hawk. I go in close get deploy and then back up to lob blue rain. I have two Medium Pulse Lasers as back up (not great I'll admit), however it is usually near the end of a match when I need them.

I don't understand the idea behind "No LRMs on Assaults" some are made to brawl and some fill the support role like every other weight class.
