From what I saw from a video LRMs can fire on a mech thats behind a hill due to it's high firing arc.

That could be useful. :)

I don't like how the LRMs follow TT range, seems too short and the missiles I feel aren't accurate enough without an artemis fire control system.

Streak SRM 2's all day!

I'd say depend on the role your using for your mech. Fire Supports should load up on LRMs. Lights like the Jenner would benefit from a LRM if you plan to harass away from the main fight.

However if im running an assault mech loaded with AC20s or equivalent I always group in some SRMs to add to the critical chances once I shear off the armour.

Depends on the mission, the map and fire support role i have to play. If its a small close in map SRMS or its a larger map LRMs the key is not to always pick one or the other but to pick what best works for the mission at hand.

SRMs, because I love being needlessly fast. LRMs seem alright, but I don't think they compliment the "go fast" play style.

LRMs can fire at max range(longest range weapons in the game), have lock on ability, and can fire over terrain via ally line of sight.

SRMs are short range, have no lock on(Unless it's the "Streak" type), but do more damage on a ton per missile damage ratio. From a math point of view SRMs are better but they require you to shoot at point blank range and have no lock on.(Again, unless they're Streak) Streak SRM isn't as good as regular SRM(ton to missile damage ratio) but should always hit.(You paid extra weight for that lockon)

If the red bar beside the weapon name also shows how fast the weapon can be fired again, it means that LRMs can really be spammed hard (you can check in the heavy mech video). Can't wait to try out an Atlas with LRM ammo through the roof and explode in a blaze of glory when I get critted. :D

I'm a SRM type a guy. They are so light when compared to the damage they dish out. Only the small/medium lasers are capable of a better tonnage to damage ratio.
No minimum range either.

The LRM's doesn't look good when used against fast targets at long range.

I prefer direct fire weapons for long range firepower.

Completely different missiles, SRM's are used for closer range combat at a faster pace, LRM's are used for long range bombardment,
being more of a support person im gonna go with LRM's If they dont impliment Arrow's.

And... LRMs will simply fail to explode at short ranges. Plink plink.

After seeing some of the in game footage i'd swap the Atlas LRM20 for some SRMs to spice up the short range Alpha. MRMs woudl be nice but if they go by the timeline they won't be around for forever.

Ok first of all note that they are planning to have the Artemis IV system ready for the game launch. Be aware too that TAG/NARC are supposed to be extremely helpful in making sure those LRMs actually hit the target. Those two things together should make LRMs devastating.

I think it's important to be able to reach out and bombard someone so I'm going with LRM all the way (actually plan to ditch the SRM launcher on my Atlas).

SSRMs sacrifice a lot of damage as we won't be getting the SSRM 4 or 6 (only the 2) for launch. Also I have to point out that the dumbfire missiles seem to hit quite well.

The Arrow IV is not being implemented for launch.... MAYBE later.

I would use SRMs and streaks for assault and brawling, and LRMs for long range fire support, which Atlas, or Cats would be good mechs to use for such as purpose.

That's what an AC/20 is for.

LRMs to soften them up as I advance. Direct fire to punch holes in them at the closer ranges.

Where he at?
Over there? LRM.
Right here? SRM.

Personally I'm considering fitting my Cat with one of each but I have no way of knowing right now if it'll be worth splitting the damage potential of the LRMs in order to have a harder close range punch for when I inevitably get mech-rushed.

It would be nice to have fire and forget LRM but I'm afraid the shooter or the scout must keep eyes on target the entire time.

I have always been a LRM guy. I play like a sniper using long range weapons like the ER PPC and Lasers. LRM's give you that added punch.
