A flooded canyon network would make an interesting fight with rivers of cold/cooler chanels and hot plateau, trading visibility for cover and cooling.

This, great idea.
Let's hope the dynamic weather on newer maps (river city, forest colony et al) includes changing water levels, and more cooling/heating environments.
Imagine plunging into the river and frantically trying to get out because the currents will soon take the mech into "OUT OF BOUNDS 07" territory!

Ha, never thought about the currents. That would be awesome and also a pretty huge deterrent.

I like this idea.
I know back in MWLL there was one map in particular that changed day and night (It was a space map to!)
And when it was day time, the map was hotter and there was pools of water around the map. Then at night time the temp cooled down (A lot) and the pools of water froze. allowing them to be walked on. These where some factors that changed what type of mechs or weapons youd try to use mostly. and added a nice element to micro management (When it came to heat.)
