Ah, the Atlas height 70 tonner with "huge" movement profile. May the modeling Gods show mercy to Resistance II.

Still probably better than a Highlander sized 60 tonner with "large" movement profile. *Cough* Quickdraw *Cough*
At least Grasshopper isn't as easy to leg.

Nope, both suffer the same. No one shoots the Hopper legs much because the only ammo it would carry is AMS compared to Quickdraws that have better Missile options. The Hopper has a worse size.

Yeah, I've been waiting for these buggers (hah, grasshooper, bugs :P) to come out for C-bills. They look pretty awesome, and seem pretty vicious. But... I'm saving my Cbills at the moment to outfit my Wave III mechs :P Soon as I'm sure my EJ is kitted up, I'm buying me some grasshoppers.

The Grasshopper is the IS equivalent of the Summoner, except for the fact that it can fire more lasers than the Summoner without overheating and the JJ are not fixed. Yeah, you will have to use an IS XL for most decent builds, but the GH has reasonable hitboxes and lots of torso armor.

Decent mech. Quite bland due to almost all energy hardpoints except for two of the variants which is the 5H and 5J which have 1 missile hardpoint in the head so one can't get quite creative with it, but still quite a solid mech. Worth the price!

Finally! I'll be picking up one of these tonight for a test ride. If she's any good, I'll buy her sisters, too.

Yay, now non-paying players can finally have wub-hoppers too! Have fun people (if you want).

GHR. You'll either love them, or hate them.

(For the record, I'm in the "Love" category.)

STD and MLs. Pay no attention to the XL Wubs.

I find STD is too slow. It is good if you want to go tank like a Thunderbolt but your speed and twist is restricted, you will have to pull complete 360s to tank like a T-Bolt does when just torso twisting in addition to weapon restrictions.

New Hopper owners!

Put a good sized XL engine in it, like a XL325 or 330.
Put a mixed range loadout in it, for instance:

2x PPC and 4+ml or MPL
2x LPL and ML or MPL

Boating all one weapon makes Grasshopper a suxx mech.

As for JJ:
Not going to jump brawl, ever. Some loadouts are better off without them completely! Some do well with maybe 2 to help get around the maps easier.

Hang out by your fatty pals like Sir Fatlas and Duke DWF. Add firepower to their targets, and watch the fringes for flanks and other threats.

Enjoy! Hopper is a solid chassis if you play it to it's strong points. It is not a jumpy brawler or high speed flank machine. It is a solid XL friendly heavy with good firepower and the ability to use some JJ to get around easier.

If by terrible you mean absolutely awesome then yes. They roll damage really well, are extremely XL friendly, are agile with great hitboxes and bring the wub wub as well as any other laser mech. I don't see what isn't to like.

My first match in the Grasshopper I bought today. XL340, 8xMPL. No XP unlocked yet. This mech is so terrible.

A skilled player can make the XL work.
