1) it wasn't accessible directly from the mechlab.
2) it didn't have the Clan/IS filter. That's very important to me as I have so bloody many mechs in both factions. Even sorting The Wall by weight class, I'd still have to scroll through pages of mechs to find what I wanted.

SO, PGI could have just added sorting and filtering functionality, not replace it.

I got no issue if they were enabled for both. Just tickles me that people need pictures now for everything. Words are bad, lol.

Meh! This one is better designed:

But I guess there are still a few old toads that prefer this:

To each their own, I guess.

Yup. If they'd given me sorting, filtering, and ideally enabled that little box that should switch from tiles to a text list, I'd have been equally happy.

I'm neutral otherwise. I don't particularly like the Mech Select screen otherwise, but I'm willing to accept that no matter what they do, I probably won't like all of it.

But I definitely do like some parts, and am willing to let the rest go.

I certainly don't think the new Mechlab is flawless, but I *DO* think, on the whole, it's decidedly an upgrade even if particular parts are... Not as I'd like.

I like the new mechlab a lot, there are some bugs, hickups and rough edges but there is absolutely no doubt that it beats the old one.

Mech selection needs some work. I like the more sorted and organised approach, but it needs to have fewer layers and use the screen estate much better. UI scaling must happen, it is crucial.

My main complaint is that there is still no easy way to move modules between mechs, a simple "unequip" button next to each module in the mech select screen for starters. And showing equipped items in the warehouse with an option to move them when picked.

The mech select screen should also have strip mech buttons so you don't have to go into the lab just to strip a mech.

You should also be able to double click a mech to open it in the lab.

I just hope they stop screwing with it ASAP.

It is obviously impossible to make any moves or changes to a UI without a massive upheaval of b******g. The sooner they get their coders and programmers working on something else the better.

Why does the new one even need to take time to 'save' the' Mech I chose anyway? I clicked on the 'Mech didn't I? And the change was instantaneous in the old Mechlab menu, and now it has to think about it?

The fact that this "new" system seems new to everyone is proof enough that it's bad. If the "new" system was better, we'd have all been using over the last several months when it when it already existed under the 'Home' tab!
But we didn't. Because it clearly sucks, and we all liked the 'Mechlab version better.

LOVE the new (expanded view) 'Mechlab, though. It's like using Mechworks/Drawing Board. Just throw a Clan/I.S. selection filter on the old selection screen and we're golden. Why this change took place at all is positively baffling.

Yep, I have no problem with it, love the expanded view and loudout editting features, and for people who have lots of mechs the mech select system is nice and fast.

Removed equip button

Inserted replacing option, with Drag and Drop being the only option.

Removed auto switching menus

Removed Mech Overview (can't use Expanded View because monitor)

All I got from this was a worse mechlab. I can no longer see my entire mech, I can no longer quickly build something. Everything takes longer.

Sorry I can't fanboy over this piece of ****.

I'm sure it will improve. For a lot of people it is very good though.. I heard they are looking into 720p compatibility for the expanded view.

I should be able to see my robot at all times. They need to design it in such a way that your MECH is visible in the menu for a MECHWARRIOR game

If they stop removing features, that'd be great.

Yeah I see easy fixes for the issues you mention. Should not be too hard for them to do.

I like the new UI. Just change, just gotta get used to it. TBH I didn't mind the last UI either, just took some getting used to. It's like a Nintendo controller..... More buttons is all. :D

Overall, I like the new mechlab. Still figuring stuff out, but I like it.

That being said, it isn't acceptable that users under 1600x900 can't use the expanded mech view. Without the Smurfy mechlab view, this new lab wouldn't work for me at all. PGI needs to fix this for those folks.
