I've got to say I am enjoying the heck out of the new panther released yesterday.

It is a ball full of fun.

At first I was a little skeptical about having such a light mech *Only* having ballistics and missiles because that caps your damage. You are all but carrying around the maximum amount of damage you can do in a match.

But it has quickly turned to delight as that 25% ballistic cool down buff really makes builds interesting.

Right now I am rolling around with a XL170, LB10-X (3 tons ammo), twin SRM2's (1 ton ammo) and 2 jumpjets.

It is one mean little Jump brawler.

Other great builds i've enjoyed

The Twin AC2 with offset firing.

The Ac2, mgun, 2 LRM5's. - Pulled down a solid 672 the other day and was last man standing.

There are a few more builds I relish trying, but I have nothing but good things to say about this little mech. So much so that I haven't even barely touched the other "new" mechs.

Anyone else enjoying this little monster?

I'm very happy to hear it. I wish there were more light mechs capable of running ballistics. With 2MGs being about as useful as a comb with two teeth, I wish it was something the RVN-4X could do as well.

I also wish we had a Rvn that could tote ballistics, right now the only lights i pull it off with are the UM-R60L (A/C2 and 3 mpl's)

But this PNT seems like a lot of FUN! Too bad I only bought up to the Crab Pack and wont be getting one any time soon... -_-
If the GHR and Zeus didnt suck so bad i would have MAYBE gotten the Black Knight and Mauler but i still have feel the sting of buyer remorse and will be spending my money on other things im the mean time.

But keep the builds coming! and good luck you dirty little black cats!

There are 2 right now. Both with jumpjets believe it or not.

It's just the arm mounted weapon makes all the difference in brawling as opposed to the locked arms of the Ravens

I've been looking at possible builds for it and it looks like double SRM2 + AC/5 might work. That seems like it would be a fairly accurate loadout with reasonably synced cooldowns. Stick an SRM2 cooldown module on it and elite it and the cooldowns are only about a quarter of a second off. You're not going to fit a 300 engine with that, but you can have jump jets and a decent amount of ammo with a 255XL.
Smurfy weaponlab gives it more than three minutes to overheat, it'll probably be half that on Terra Therma but either way heat won't be an issue unlike with every other Panther.

Right...i rushed that post...

The movement is sorely missed in the RVN, which is why I have been petitioning to Russ to give it 360 degree torso twist so the arms are not an issue.

We have that in the game now thanks to the Urbie!

I have no problems with overheating on my PNT's, 2x LPL 9R can alpha like 7 times.....

And if you find yourself anywhere near something that can outrun you it won't be enough.

Just seems wrong that a Panther has a ballistic larger than a MG. It's not really a Panther.

The hopper sucks, but the Zeus is the best assault. I rip the group queue apart in my Zeus. Excited to try the pants.

Few things of note:

The Panther has AMAZING ballistic quirks. It does not have amazing missile quirks. Utilizing that ballistic is the key to it's success.

XL170
2 jumpers

AC2 - 3 1/2 tons of ammo
Mg - 1/2 ton of ammo
x2 SRM4's - 2 1/2 tons of ammo

Also in other news all new resistance variants are awesome.

The panther is by far the one I love the best but the enforcer is a devil on wheels with an ac20 4 meds, the Grashopper has so many high mounted energy hardpoints that jump peaking punished opponents and the Zues itself is just Classy goodness with a beat stick of srm's if you get close.

No complaints and well worth the prize of the blackknight and mauler upgrade. Months of fun to follow.

Zeus sucks? Huh, news to me. Grasshopper, yeah, can't argue with you there.

Are mechs in MWO really Btech Mechs period? How many TT catapults run around with 300xls? How many Highlanders pack 5jj?

it's a nice mech alright.

i'm running mine with an XL 235, UAC5, 2 SRM2

but i think this mech will only really shine once we get the full spectrum of ballstics.

dual UAC2? LBX5+SRM4s? UAC10? light Gauss? so many things to come.
