I believe CW as has been said in multiple locations needs some meaningful rewards. These are some ideas I have dreamed up as a way to not only make Planets meaningful, but also to have longer contracts be meaningful simultaneously. I haven't been playing long so I would love to hear from people with pros and cons of this set-up so that I can improve upon it.

I believe this can be done in a way that will make several sides of these arguments better functional.

#1.) We need more varied contract lengths. Week, Month,3 Month, 6 Month, and Permanent. Possibly more variance, but this seemed to give me a good starting point.

#2.) We create a bonus associated with each planet (For Example: Holding Planet X gives you a 5% cost reduction for buying Medium Lasers, Planet Y gives you a 2% reduction in the cost of Standard 270 Engines, and Planet Z gives a 1% reduction for the cost of Jenners.) This can even be tied to Canon in many instances for those who wish for Lore to be more involved because the lore tells us that many planets had production facilities for various mechs/weapons/ammo/etc.

These benefits are for PERMANENT members of a faction. 6 Month contractors receive 50% benefits compared to Perm members, 3 Month contracts get you 25% level benefits, and 1 month contract gets 10% benefits. Week-long contracts get none of the benefits.

#3.) We need for under-served factions to have increased incentives for People to join them on long term contracts (Signing Bonuses for long contracts, % increase in C-bill rewards, etc.) And there needs to be an area of the faction selection screen that Announces this prior to faction choice. Say House Kurita offers 500,000 C-bills per member of any unit signing a 3-month contract, or FRR Offers additional 15% salvage rights to members signing a 6-month contract.

You already attach % Bonuses to Hero mechs and do % price reductions for special sales so this should be fairly simple to implement.

I was really hoping for some people's input on improving this idea and fleshing it out enough to maybe pitch it as a CW mode upgrade that would allow us more of the immersion that will hold people here for the long-term.

The planetary rewards should be and extra percentage of loyalty points and C-bills to all the unit members, depending on the number of planets they hold.
If a unit holds 10 planets, they get an extra 10% in loyalty and C-bill bonus in every game they play.
If they lose a planet, they lose a percentage in rewards. (The percentage could be 2% per planet. The exact percentage would need to be discussed)

This would solve major problems in CW.
1) Currently there is no incentive to defend a planet. With this system in place. If a unit is at risk of losing a planet, they would fight harder to defend it since they will potentially lose a percentage in loyalty and C-bill rewards.

2) Units are constantly facing pugs when attacking a planet, and when pugs drop to defend a planet, they are most likely to face premade/units. This depressing, one sided win/lose cycle keeps going on and on.
With this reward system, premades will most likely face the unit that is currently in control of that planet. Making CW matches more evenly matched in skill level.

To keep strong units with the most planets from growing to 300+ members, you would need to put a member cap in place. I know there are a ton of inactive members in a unit. So a 100 member unit is really only 20 players strong. Unit leaders would have to make sure only active players get the rewards, and accept new members based on the available slots in their unit.
