Title says it all.

I'm not even sure when this happened, but the free ride is over and the Lolcust got it.

RIP Lolcust deal.

:(

It certainly was a good deal for a bad mech. In order to get it now with bay will cost 885 MC. Which is terrible since the Pirate's Bane was only slightly more than that on sale.

The end of the Locust sale is not a great loss. What is bothersome however is the failure to notify the public that the May bonus MC sale was ending. That is just a bad business practice, I was using those figures to plan out my mechbay purchases for the summer.

I know, who would have thought that the MAY sale would end at the beginning of JUNE?

short sighted view. All good companies keep "loss leaders" out there, knowing it draws customers many of whom eventually invest in profitable things. And it creates good will to have cheap product available.

@Bishop: That is my descriptor, theirs was far more nebulous. I guess they are covered since TBD =/= TBA.

Bank fees, credit card fees, the various third merchant marketers all charge fees.

I didn't even see an official word on that that... I'm sure that answer would be found on twitter, but I'm not itching to find out.

The fact that there was an MC sale going on (I was not even aware)... well... it is what it is when it comes to communication I guess.

Things that usually cut into profits, I highly doubt they could really lose money selling digital goods.

You sell a digital good for 2 dollars, pay 3 dollars in various third party transaction fees, you lose money, digital or not.

I doubt it would be $3 or so, but... there is a reason why even restaurants that have credit card transactions require a $10 order or so... because of said fees.

For something like a local store (say a CVS or a supermarket chain).. they usually negate the cheap fees for like a $1 transaction through usually bigger transactions in general (larger purchases).

Like, I remember someone offered a large sum of Lolcusts for free, and not being able to buy them all in one big transaction probably costs PGI money through a cost/benefit analysis. That in part is PGI's fault. One transaction instead of a multiple series of transactions would help... and perhaps if it were bought as a collection of stuff, it would be better for PGI.

For instance, let's say you wanted to buy Clan Wave 3 and Resistance Pack 2. The current PGI system is only set up to make one transaction at a time. If PGI's "store" were able to combine multiple transactions as one (like, buying multiple things, like different gifts, and packs AT THE SAME TIME), this would actually be cheaper for PGI (though it may be a more difficult nightmare on a support level - assuming it is designed and handled properly).

Of course, that would make too much sense right?

not stating that is the fee. Simply making an example.

I got the jist, but you'd think you'd want a fee based off a commission instead of a fixed value...

Still, they could've improved the system to favor buying say multiple Lolcusts (say 5 or 10 of them), and that would probably affect PGI's cut in a more positive way.
