I think it's about time that the screens in our cockpit say something besides AUTODETECT [NO, don't you? Even if they're just static images like in this video, that would be okay, but if it is at all possible, it would be amazing to have screens that update realtime information about the mech; we had a heatsink monitor, kill counter, and ammo count; if anyone has other ideas for good things to add, I'd love to hear them.

Throwing my vote in for this as well. I'd really like the screens in the mech cockpits to actually do something.

I'd rather have the HUD moved to those screens.

Trolls gonna troll? Please, be nice, helpful and relevant!
exactly, a rear view slideshow (to circumvent the picture-in-picture limitation of the engine), an ammo tracker, a heat sink tracker, and A CRITICAL DAMAGE TRACKER! How can we know the mech status just by the "x destroyed, y destroyed, z critical damage..."?

As much as seeing that for years now is annoying, I would much rather they work on more pressing issues in the game itself, things that matter a lot more.

Sure, I'm not saying that this is the game's biggest issue. But unlike, say, adding in new game modes, redoing the maps, fixing the netcode, coding PvE AI, or balancing the weapons, this should be a relatively small thing to do. As you can see in the OP, they already have static images for the monitors; it seems like it should be a relatively trivial amount of work to do this compared to the above tasks. Further, this is something that would fall to the art team rather than the programmers or engineers; we keep hearing about how the programmers and engineers are the ones who are already too busy, so this seems like it would be a nice thing to take care of. It's also something that we ignore because we're used to seeing it, but how's it going to look at the steam launch when players come in expecting something cool in the cockpit and are greeted with ten identical monitors, AUTODETECT [NO.
