I would have to say its a bit suspicious, but not impossible. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions based solely on your engagement. I would have noted his name and looked/listen for others receiving head shots in match also.

Im less inclined to trust it if it was lasers(except large, multi-laser alphas)...but big ballistics and PPCs are much easier to do it with.

A couple of weekends ago, I got two in about 5 games(hadn't did it years before and I haven't since), but my HBK-4G brawls up close with an AC20... You only need one lucky shot with that to extricate a cockpit.

It was a Gauss rifle and lasers. I didnt get a good look at the mech. Kinda looked like a Zues. It had left side ballistics. It popped into the main tunnel from the sevice tunnel. Fired a round into my face from about 200 meters. Then back into cover. I began to reverse out of the tunnel a as his buddies showed up. I saw him pop out again and the second his barrel cleared the wall I was dead.

Yikes! Well if it was a cheat, it'll likely be sniffed out by PGI. Keep track of suspicious folks, reporting possible hax does **** PGI in focusing on potential cheaters.

Its easy to be headshotted if you're a slow mech in a confined space, armlocked and pouring fire without interruption.

Remember when the Atlas head was like a watermelon on a toothpick? That was crazy.

I am playing from Europe with 150 ping, it is nearly impossible to head shot anything.

Mechs are never in the place that the client shows them.

Clans have the advantage as you don't have any chance to test against them in training grounds. Dire headshots can be done but in my experience head on doesn't do it. I think there is an angle offset but I have no way to try it out. Pretty much the same for timbys but I have had better luck with them. Again all at some kind of offset.

To be fair it still is. We just refuse to admit that a large Melon is easy to hit when when you can actually aim. I mean, there is no rear hit box on the head, or even sides. How stupid is that? Have you seen the head of an Atlas?

Now a Dire Wolf has its cockpit right in the center of teh dang torso! How hard should that be to hit from front or sides?

But Skillz I guess.

Yes, but I much prefer the ct damage to the way it used to be. Half the damn dome used to be the cockpit.

I understand that. But you have to wonder who would want to be riding in front of all the metal???

Went into a drop crimson straight. Pushed tunnel with my team. Some mech pops out from around the corner and cores my cockpit. Same mech pops out a second time and head shot me again. Dead with 95% armor. Is the cockpit hitbox enormous?

I get more headshots against Dires than any other mech - and i'm an active and slightly ashamed head hunter.

I don't think it's because they've got an exceptionally large head hitbox - I think it's because as a mech, they're arrogant.

Most mechs will use their speed to dart between cover, or will twist to absorb damage. Dires don't dodge, dodging is for peasants and not-DireWolves. Seems that the only time they ever twist their torsos is to track targets. They stare at you haughtily, secure in the knowledge that they can out dakka anything in a 20degree cone in front of them.

Until you shoot them in the face.

Golly it's satisfying.

Knowledge.

Center window pain is cockpit on DWF much like others, most mechs have wonky hit boxes when they are shut down vs just sitting idle like the testing grounds.

I can headshot everything in the testing grounds in a few hits but i could not for the life of me land a kill shot on a CDA yesterday once it shut down. Nerves? Or PGI?

While I agree with you whole-heartedly. Recent performance from my Quad UAC10 Dire Wolf still says that's a bad idea. Then again I'm not a trash player, and know to twist, even in a Dire Whale.
