I would say it was one shot in a million and you just got unlucky

i think its because their head hitboxes are dead center (where every body normally aims)

I've tried multiple times to headshot a shutdown Whale, but i can never figure out which window to shoot at. With most IS mechs, it's pretty obvious, but with them clanners... I've no idea.

I know there are plenty of mechs that could stand better proportions, but the DWF is just so ostentatious.

A lot of mechs seem to be mis-proportioned when compared to their concept art.
It all started with the Centurion.

One can never be sure about these things.
During the recent resistance event i saw one particular enemy pilot (among top 5 on all 4 categories...yes all categories) to suspiciously know the exact position of everyone on our team no matter how they moved around as if seeing through transparent walls in frozen city. moving and pre-shooting his lasers before coming out of cover.
On the other hand there is the possibility of an enemy UAV too... hard to notice in frozen city.
as i said one can never be sure.

Yup, we can not be 100% sure. Report it and let PGI sort through their data and determine the appropriate course of action.
