I'd be surprised if they launched with negative quirks, but to be fair: Of all the Clan mechs, only the TWolf and Scrow got nerf quirks - the rest where buffed. Not substantially buffed, mind you, but at least not nerfed more. And even the Twolf and Scrow had been out for a really long time before they got those nerfs.

Anyways, yeah, the CB probably won't have nerf quirks, and if it doesn't it'll mop the floor with Timberwolf juice.

That it is 10 tons lighter, and lesser armored as a result, might be the counter-balance. Lower durability, and it looks like it might have a fairly easy CT to hit, too, based on the art. All the guns in the world mean nothing if you're dead.

You BT original fanboys (I was one of you once, decades ago) really have to understand one thing:

Most original stuff is based on ridiculously bad design, would be nowhere near viable, walkable, workable.
I don't mean 100% realism, I mean some Mechs COULD NOT WALK.

Things have to be overhauled a little bit with more professionality in order to ever see them walking on the battlefield.

PGI's Ebon Jaguar looks amazing, MUCH better than that strange pancake that is the original abomination.

most of us "fanboys" don't claim the original art was amazing. But it does set the flavor of the mech. Some of these could be done to capture the feel, and yet still look good. Plus as long as they look functional, that matters more than if they look "good" as most mechs are kinda ugly.

heh as it stands, the CB may nor totally dethrone the Timberwolf (unless it lacks those energy nerf quirks) but it'll be damned close. Better hard points, smaller frontal profile, same pod space.

Unless it ends up being terrible, I already have it pegged to take the place of one TBR and one SCR in my clan drop deck. 2 SCRs and 2 EBJs. 65-ton mechs just feel like home to me.

It's a trivial armor difference. 8 points (total) in the CT, less everywhere else.

As to the CT, I imagine it'll have comparable hitboxes to the Timberwolf, given a fundamentally similar design. The TBR certainly has no issues with CT vulnerability.

But, you just never know about hitboxes until release.

yet it's funny how many people QQ about the TBRs CT (or STs, or both) on here. Methinks a lot of folks can't twist.

Did you guys see the image in the Day 7 Countdown news posting?

Loots pretty squat and thick to me, based on the angles of the legs. I think they nailed it.

And that's the one that isn't fully animated yet, it's not set, it's hanging loose, it sets lower, crouched, explained already, remember? Shesh, I thought me and Joseph were the ones with Oldtimers...

Yeah, like they set the Vulture and Mad Dog lower instead of overly upright in posture...... oh wait.......

Believe it when I see it. It's something they have consistently failed on with the Omnis.

Am I looking at the same image as you?

The cauldron-born's pelvis area is HIGHER than the executioners. It's legs are going to be massive, as far as I can see it is the opposite of 'squat'. Maybe the cauldron-borns standing on a chair.

On a side note, does the CB remind anyone else of 'Stingray'? (From the tv series).

Looking at the new shot in the news...it DOES appear to be sitting lower and looks thicker, that view is definitely looking almost straight up, and those thighs are NOT standing straight up or even close to that...

believe it or not, even though I never cared for the chassis, I sure don't want them to screw it up. I just expect them to.

Can we at least wait until it gets in game to see if its truly fubar? At that point by all means light the torches and grab the pitch forks if its anywhere as bad as the Jager and Cataphract adjustments.

But jesus christ guys.

In case you didn't know this, it takes TIME to form up a proper angry mob with torches and pitchforks, have to work them up to a fever pitch first you know.

While I get where you're coming from, that wasn't the "in game model", it was the model shown in the modeling software, in t-pose.

Maybe it won't be squat enough for your tastes, but it won't look like that in game.

I find it kind of funny that people are asking to make their mechs squat, when i want my Quickdraw to actually straighten out her knees.

Sure it'd make her EVEN taller, but at least she'd look better that way

I, for one, waiting for more picture before i judge.
