You can hear a jenner stomp by, but an atlas falling flat on it's face a few meters away makes no sound........

I think the way mechs fall over and die is ********.....it doesnt really die like a mech would, instead if folds up and just kinda rag dolls over.

How does a machine that is tied to our sense of balance fall over when the strings are cut I wonder?

But then machinery powering the laser might be noisey.

or no sounds when you hit another mech
or no sounds when you get stuck and your engine is running at 100%.

why you expecting large mechanical machines involved or something?.
Movies eliminating brain cells since 1930......
Unless they run off of magic then charging capaciters, gas cooling of components etc might make some noise yeah.

The whole "death explosion" is a bit silly anyway, although forgivable since its cool. 'Mech "destruction" is more akin to disabling their engines. Every once in a while a 'Mech will remain in a standing position upon dying, which is cool.

Eh, you can barely hear a Jenner stomp by too. All footsteps are ridiculously quiet for how big these machines are supposed to be. And they barely have any other impact on the environment, too - a faded foot imprint, that's about it, no tremors or or anything like that. PGI did make a fun game, but they sure as hell didn't make an immersive one.

That blip bleep sound is just the hud sound for when a weapon group is ready to fire. and your little boxes around your reticle turn from red to yellow.

Agreed and many times they seem light and fluffy once they hit the ground and bounce/tumble etc.

Ah hell you just made me remember the horror i felt when my submarine in Silent Hunter4 was being rammed by another ship or was going aground, the sound it made will haunt me for ever. It don't need to be realistic, just terrifying lol.

If they are powerful enough to do damage to ceramic steel composite armor in less than a second the way they do, just probably not the sounds PGI chose. Basically they should likely crack the way lighting does as it displaces the air and we get a crack as air rushes back in to fill the void.
Of course we probably shouldn't SEE the laser unless in a very dusty or foggy environment which would reduce their efficiency.
