Still remembering how much fun MC2 was, and thank god I still have the disk to play it.

One really neat feature about MC2 was its vast encyclopedia. I swear, I could get lost in it.

Haha I've Just finished both of them. Mech Commander Gold and Mech Commander 2. The first one imo is better, its just so much more of a challenge. Mech commander 2 I just headshotted all the mechs I wanted, salvage them on field and instarepair to full hp, had 16 mechs in my lance once lol

Both fun games though. Mech commander gold though really really made me have to think twice about everything. Espescially the expansion on cermac, Long tom turrets and turkinas. Lucky hit and you just lost your madcat lol.

One can also use Virtual PC to play a lot of different old games. I have Windows 98 installed on a VPC to play MC, Stars!, and some of the Close Combat games.

I too liked MC1 a lot more than MC2. The repair facilities made things much too easy, in my opinion (not to mention the lack of AI)

When will someone make a Grand Strategy Mechwarrior/Battletech game where I get to control resources, research new techs, plan invasions, etc? It could start just after the fall of the Star League before the 5 house have consolidated power.

Wish there was a MC3...

This, more or less.
One of the best quality games (MC 1 + 2) I have ever played.

I've not played MechCommander 2 much, I play to do one of my "Let's Pwn!" series on MC2 in the coming months. But MC1 is a brilliant game and is one of my all time favourites, I only wish there were more MC games.

I wish they would also make a Mechcommander 3 because lets face it MC1 was a hell of a lot of fun in multiplayer and I used to remember plaing in the starleague ladders on mplayer.

Great memories.

From what I can tell MWtactics is turn based so not quite the same.

I think we should invade someones teamspeak, create some wierd-*** mechs and battle it out in MC Omnitech multiplayer, it's free and should work for everyone ...

i played both of them , but the second part never reached the class of the first one. last week, 10 years after the 1st mechcommander, i installed it again and all i can say is, it was alot of fun........f*** diablo 3, cod and other mainstream crap, games like mechcommander where real games with depth wich really kept the faszination of the battletech universe.

MC2 was a really good game that was completely ruined by one awful flaw: Enemies would target the first of your units that came into range, and walk towards it slowly, firing when able, never ever changing targets. They never even ran. This meant that you could use a scout copter or a light mech to draw them in, and then just kite them around the map whilst the rest of your mechs slaughtered them without them ever firing a shot.

MC1 though, now that was a good-*** game.

I played Mechcommander 1 a lot. Awesome game it was and quite challenging (though never unfair). Used female 'Mechwarriors only. :D

Mechwarrior 2 on the other hand...not so great. The graphics were pretty ugly (MW4 style), the videos were quite ok (though Katherine Steiner-Davion was not as beautiful as expected and the Liaos looked rather goofy), the number of 'Mechs was good. But what really made me laugh were the homing-shots of Gaussrifles and Autocannons.

To be honest, I didn't like Mech Commander 2. I also didn't like Mechwarrio 4. In my opinion the Microsoft-Incarnations stayed less true to the BT-origins and made more concessions to create a faster game with more action.

But I liked Mech Commander 1 and Mechwarrior 3. I think Microprose was the better place for the franchise.

But this is just my opinion. Remember the time when we played MC1 on LANs.
