Title says it all. Trees are completely pointless. They don't block weapons fire and aren't destructible. They look absolutely awful as well. Until at least the destructibility issue can be addressed trees should be removed.

There is talk of destructible trees coming down the dev pipe.

Potentially even in the redone River City out this week. This week? It's this week, right? Or next? Well, either way, potentially as soon as that map.

I hate the trees in this game so much. I get nailed through them even while using ECM and I still can't even see where I'm being shot from...

I guess that's what I get for running on all high graphical settings?

I disagree.
Trees are amazing to hide in if you have ecm and want to be behind enemy lines AND be looking directly at them.

It's not realistic. I imagine you could just rake a laser through and destroy the tree.

A. We need trees/foilage like WoT
B. They should be destructible but also you should be able to set them on fire to generate smoke cover...cause BT said it is so

Oh yeah...and tree collisions should slow us down. One tree might not be obvious, but many trees in rapid succession should see our speed decline since we don't get a chance to accelerate to get it back by the time we hit another tree. And, the kinesthetics (even though it won't be animated) of knocking down a tree should be throwing our stride off as we push and press our way through.

If you are talking about the one map (its beautiful, btw), then i say, KEEP them. Its only on this map, and its make it , very special.

The point of trees (even and especially indestructible ones) is to provide visual cover.

If you have an EMC mech sniping you with a PPC or a an AC from amidst a forest you'll know what I mean.


Stop shouting to change/remove stuff if you don't know what you're talking about.

Sort of. Here is what I perceive happening.
  • PGI puts in this much asked for feature.
  • Patch goes in and 2 hours pass.
  • All the people attempting to play MWO on their 5 year old laptops never designed for playing games rage across the forums about how evil PGI is forcing them to buy a new computer to play the game.
  • 4 weeks go by and a new patch removes most of the destructible objects.
