With the clans Arctic cheetah on the way and the fire moth too game breaking fast( over 200km/h with MASC o.o), I decided too check what sarna could offer on clan lights, there wasn't many to choose from due either from timeline or that they were quad mechs :/

But one mech caught my eye and that was clan Ice Hellions light mech!

The Hellion!
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hellion

This thing looks amazing and has decent speed and fire power, only problem with it is a lot of its variants use weapons that aren't in the game yet .

Mainly its the Heavy medium lasers that prevent it from being chosen but, I checked the tonnage of these weapons and found that they weighed the same as ER MLs , maybe the Heavy lasers could be replaced with ER MLs to bring the mech into the game( highly unlikely though ) and this mech could also bring in Clan Ice Hellion too.... just hopeful thinking.

What do you all think ( and yes I know the piranha has been mentioned a lot by the community too )

Sadly, probably not gonna happen because micro lasers aren't a thing yet, but I can dream.

Like others said, it is a bit too far in the future yet.

As a side note though, that mech's artwork is an absolute train wreck. There is so much visually going on in that picture that I can't tell what is what. It's almost like the artist tried to shove as many launchers and weapons on it as possible and ended up making a visually confusing mess lol. If it does ever make it to MWO, hopefully it won't be that insane of a design.

Maybe I like insane <_<...... but yeah it is messy but looks badass at same time :D.

Anyway how big are the timeline jumps MWO goes through?

Yeah so many weapons unused makes a lot of mechs unable to make it into the game :/

Who needs micro lasers when you have 12 machine guns. Sadly, not until late 3060s

Ignore that, production in 3051. Bring it on

On the contrary, I find the arts to be quite pleasing to the eyes. The one at the bottom of the article is drawn better (by different artist mimicking the original I suppose):

I think the artist(s) got some cues from Japanese mecha design. Obvious signs are slim waistline, big calves, and a svelte silhouette overall. We have to make the head fixed in place (neckless) for the pilot to be able to sit there in the cockpit if we had this in-game.

It's gonna be a long wait for it but I've found way to pass the time, the Hellion has 4 ER MLs but I can only see three....

Figure out where the hell(ion) it is, post and let me know because it's driving me crazy.

wasnt there another clan light, I think 20tons, armed with only a single ER-PPC?

I think I read about it in one of the novels, but never found it again...

30 tons, actually

The Pack Hunter's got a lot of the same problems as the Hellion, though. 3059 production date means it's seven years away, and the variants also include a bunch of equipment we don't have yet, as well as being even further away. Also, unfortunately, the Pack Hunter would be butt in MWO due to an extreme case of hardpoint deficiency in the Prime variant, unable to be remedied by Omni swapping as the Pack Hunter is not an OmniMech. Also no ES or XL, so it would be both slow and fat.

Real shame - the Pack Hunter is otherwise a popular fan choice and has more personality than a lot of other 'Mechs in TROs.

Anyways. On the Hellion itself:

First of all, LULZ @teh Speed Phreax Clan making something so frickin' slow for its size. At least by MWO standards.

Second of all, that thing would actually be kinda violent. 4M at ~128kph or whatever it ends up as makes for an unpleasant missile cruiser, though ammunition would be as limited as it always is for light SRM cruisers. Its options would consist of SRMs or lasers-and-SRMs, though. Not enough hardpoints for beam spam, not enough weight for heavy energy. Oh well.

Third of all: the Hellion's art kicks the everlovin' hell out of most of the older designs. I hate 'classic TRO' art. It's butt, a bunch of simplistic garbage consisting of rectangles with a bunch of other rectangles hanging off of it in a vague approximation of a humanoid shape. I get that there wasn't any money for proper artists back in the seventies, but come on. Busy and Gundam-y is still far and away better than

A Clan energy Hollander?

BTW I love how they write regarding its main armament:

Sarna said:

The Pack Hunters's Ripper Series A1 ER PPC, capable of decapitating a foe in a single blast, gives any 'Mech that faces it a good reason to worry.

I wish that we feel that way in MWO about PPCs :(

Fortunately, our Gauss Rifle still creates sense of dread like in the source material, though maybe not so much.
