MegaBots is Coming.
Curious to see how it goes as they progress with their plans.

Surely these will be on a pole, or use 'fake' legs? (As in legs that move forward, but are actually on wheels.
Oh, that one has tracks - I saw adverts for this program (wasnt it kickstarted?) that had a bot on legs an I scoffed.

I like to pretend that those robots have some level of intelligence and as they start falling over, they're thinking
"Oh no, oh no, oh no! Crap, crap, crap, crapcrapcrap- DOH!"

Listen to the vid, they actually are working on a walker.

This first one is like a proof of concept for such a robot.

I simply cant believe it till I see it, I think they said that to get backers, even the top scientists on the planet cant properly do it. The only one I have seen work is the 'dog' one being developed by a us military firm. And I took that one with a pinch of salt too (and it has 4 legs, :P ).

Honestly I think we need a battletech technology breakthrough to do it (myomers).

It's a healthy skeptic that takes things with a pinch of salt. The trick is avoiding cynicism and keeping an open mind.

Their plans look to build a sport out of using fighting robots, so I'm curious to see how it goes for them, and see what comes out of it in terms of a stable walker.

And if you wanna geek out a bit check out this thesis.

I'm afraid I fell into the Cynicism trap many years ago
And thanks for the link, I think i'll sit down and read it later. Looks interesting, and he brings up the main problems right away, which has caught my attention.

you may not be aware, but we actually have myomers in existance now.

http://io9.com/scien...uscl-1526957560

In fact, they are made out of carbon nanotubes... which is essentially what myomer was created from in Battletech fiction, and is one of the reasons that said muscles become sluggish in high heats [since the muscles want to contract under high heat.]
