No Damage Cheat ?

First of all, hold your flamers! I am not here to acuse or whine, I am here because I saw something weird and have being hearing more cases like that.

Is it possible someone be using a "god mode" cheat?
We all know that HSR and hit reg are buggy as hell, but, that happened to me the other day. Piloting a Nova 12xsml, I hit a thunderbolt, in optimal range (200mts) 6x...(not alphas, each arm, or 6x 6sml shots) Im SURE I hit the CT at least 3x (90dmg). But his front armor got only slight orange...

I have been hearing some similar cases, with other mechs. Like a DireWolf that, even power down due heat, receiving alpha strikes from at least 3 mechs, didnt die, return to powered and kill two of the mechs firing at him.

So, I know with the server/client thing, is technicaly impossible to make a cheat like that, and I am here to ask, if you saw something like thst happen too or have some to add to the discussion, no "herp derp whinner noob" stuff, I love you all equally ;)

I saw something similar, unloaded an alpha from my Sparky into a target, cursor flashed red so I know it hit, his armor didn't flash or change colors. Dunno, lag maybe. Annoying though

No. It's lag or HSR, full stop.

It is not a cheat. Not every irregularity in the game is a cheat.

Correct, can take some time for the hit to register.

HSR gets backed up a lot, especially when you have a lot of boated lasers on the field.

It's trying to calculate all the offsets for each plink count of each laser against the pings of all the players/their locations and whatnot. Sometimes at the most hectic firing times it seems to lose track of where mechs are "supposed" to be or have been and puts the shots against a location that mechs are not located on the server (but are located on your client).

There's no real good solution for it, ballistics suffer at the same time. Sometimes missiles might function a little better but then you are adding the same problem of 15-45+ individual hits the HSR is trying to track.

I experience very often what you described as I love the Nova and quite often run it (12 SL or 10 SPL).

That is the "normal" failure of the hit registration code / server settings, no cheat. You keep hitting the target dead on, the doll flashes but only a fraction of the damage is applied (armor stays yellow or bright orange).

This morning, I had a horrible HSR match with the Warhawk, 4 CLPL. Almost no damage was applied. Then, the next match: Nova with 10 SPL, Alpine Freaks (as our unit names this map). Wanted to see if HSR stays as bad as in the Warhawk match and thought: Wow, great map for SPL :rolleyes:

Well, I ended up getting 5 kills, 4 of them while being badly cored. Flanked the enemy and went up the hill from the back side, getting those 4 kills within a couple of seconds. Hit reg was suddenly working perfect again.

What I don't understand is how some people in the same match seem to have good HSR while others have bad hit reg, having comparable ping. If it depends on the server ticks, why are not all people affected?

You can't god mode because hit reg is server side. Only cheats i know of are aimbots that doent work very good and radar hacks.

You got two issues one being hitreg two being paper doll. Both of them dont work as they should.

I don't know about it not registering but I took an alpha in the face while turning and already cored. I got behind cover and came out on the other side to fire thinking how lucky I was. Not to be I exploded. Had to be a good five seconds from the hit to the death. Thought ammo explosion but only gauss ammo and my gauss was already destoyed.

Bigg Buggy mess sometimes.

Seems to happen most for me when using an ac20. Doesn't matter the mech, shots have a shot to just fly through em like ghosts.

There has been a damage cheat/hack around since closed beta called armor hack.
It reduces all incoming damage to excactly 1 point.

Read that several times before but never saw any proof it worked or if it ever was is still viable.

every game has last spider/commando/raven, which survive 30 seconds of constant fire from 4-6 mechs.
Why ? Because LAG.

As some already said it is either a kind of lag (I saw my damage registers sometimes 1-2 sec after I hit the target) or simply hitreg. Oh how I could rant about the latter...

Something is gone amiss, last night I kept getting hammered by IS LRM's through the Citadel and Rad Derp did nothing. Then a dire wolf was shooting my legs from under that ramp and I was out of sight in the center of citadel. The frustrating part was that I had lame city night 6 times in a row.

I think there are a lot more exploits out there than PGI is letting on to. Now the hackers see that Banhammer wave II only caught the most blatant I think we will see more of this and we will be overwhelmed once steam hits. If its not hacks and the servers and HSR are this bad and getting worse I fear our future.

Is it possible?
Yes. Anything is possible.

Is it likely?
No, because it would involve a massive manipulation of the data and/or a code error you can drive a truck through, plus it would show up like a sore-thumb on the game logs, thus getting patched as rapidly as possible as something like that would cost a fortune in desk-flipping players.

If you think it's happening then report it by all means, because it technically could happen. But don't get too worried that it is as you really can only lose a bit of time/progression/fun if it is happening.

Remember: one of the reason people do use cheats is because it annoys the bejezus out of other players. So just report and roll on.

I've caught myself saying a few times either by playing or spectating: "I wish my Assault mechs could take as much damage as that shut down Adder."

There was one time I witnessed a Victor's backside to be indestructible, but every other time I've seen mechs brush off damage involves lights, or rather fast movers like Cicada etc... Can't be coincidence.

in my boars head I shot a guy, he walked for like a second, then died from said shot.. was funny as hell.. so yeah it's lag/HSR issues..

I've had a lot of damage not registering because of it when shooting the enemy, happens when there is events and other things loading down the servers...

It's easy to assume it's a cheat but it's kinda daft when you take into account that its not even players doing massive damage or kills.

This is more likely then someone trying to mess with HSR so far as a hack.

I have seen what OP describes a few times over the last two weeks. Its not HSR, not always. When you play as long as me you know when somthing fucky is going on.

I have seen a K2 with magically regenerating armor also.

Bottom line guys, you need to think outside the box. It isnt that the dmg doesnt hit, its that the armor values have been adjusted, or dmg reduction applied. IMO, cheaters have tools to adjust actual mech specs a lot deeper then people think. Imagine a DWF with an extra 90 points of armor on the CT. Would you notice inthe heat of battle on a target that usually gets shot by more than one player? Is it enough to significantly boost an end result, without being blatently obvious?

The dmg reduced to 1 thing as mentioned would be another one. Who would notice or attribute it to something besides bad HSR? Its only when some player obviously exploits it(like running his adder into a full lance of heay/assault and parks it to chainfire his ERML) that you hear rumours.

Next time you see a mostly healthy "last man standing" run out of bounds at the end of a match, consider maybe he isnt just being a K/D ratio idiot. maybe he doesnt want to have 6 mechs shooting his for 2 minutes of focus fire to make his armor hacks stick out.
