So I've seen some fun names in game, but also several that I doubt people would keep.

Is there some easy "rename" convention I don't know about?

Pay MC to change name button? Or does support just approve changes willy-nilly?

You would be surprised the names some users decide to keep...

I would ask support if you want to change your name. There is currently no in game method to do so. I'm not sure what their policy is, but it never hurts to ask.

I know someone who did change the account name, but this was before PGI spilt from IGP (the former publisher) I am not sure if support will still change your name, or if there are specific criterior that have to be met before they will.

As Spike Brave said if you want to change your in-game name contact support, email accounts@mwomercs.com explaining why you want your name changed, they could say no but it does not hurt to ask.

also if you see interesting pilot names look at this thread, and possibly add to it

Like the plank I am, I entered IRL name when asked for pilot name all those years ago
(Hey, I was expecting it to ask me for a "callsign"! Duh, online game newbie :P )

Anyhoo, I msg'd support on this recently and the response was along the lines of:
"We will change it for you ONCE so choose wisely. Send us 5 options for your new name."

This topic comes up every once in a while, and- while I love my name- I really wish that PGI would implement an option to change names for players for a bit of MC. I know a lot of free to play games that have such an option.

You can e-mail Account Support to have your name changed for free, but you only get one name change, so choose wisely.

S'pose so?
I'm guessing they mean you could vary your chosen callsign thus like:
1. C J Sparrow
2. CJ Sparrow
3. CJSparrow
4. CJ 5PARROW
5. bert

Obviously staying within the T&C's for your name or you'll end being called another "inappropriate872348120"

I got a name change on an alt account.

They ask you for your top 5 choices in order of preference, ranked 1-5.

If your 1st choice is taken, they give you your 2nd choice, and so on. And as has been mentioned, you only get to do it once.

Hope that helps!

I prefer the GEP, for dealing with "bots".
Bots that turn into kibble when you shoot them with a rocket.
