After using MASC on the Executioner, I think they need to get lower the acceleration bonus or change the damage threshhold. It's basically the best reason for using it and a bit too good in my opinion. You can accelerate like a light and get out of dodge in a hurry, with no ill effects - you jump to maybe 30% before you're out of danger if anywhere near cover. More testing will be needed, but my first impression is that on an assault, MASC = can I have this on all my mechs?

No, its fine AS IS.

Think about it, 95 tonner with 25 tons of pod space. What's more, it goes 64.4 KPH. With 25 tons of weapons....

Kinda sounds like the scenerio MASC was intended for. The continuous, long term use of it is dissuaded by its mechanics. With current mechanics in place, utlilizing MASC for a general boost in overall top speed is not feasible. The accel/deccel then becomes the selling point.

As you said "You can accelerate like a light and get out of dodge in a hurry, with no ill effects - you jump to maybe 30% before you're out of danger if anywhere near cover." You then have one more immediate chance to get out of dodge. If the enemy presses, or your escape lands you into more trouble, your get out of free card can now become a liability.

"MASC = can I have this on all my mechs?" Same as ECM, JJ, Clan XLs...

I would posit that four tons/slots of fixed equipment in a 95-tonner with no Endo had, in fact, better be pretty sam-diggity baller. The fact that it's sam-diggity baller enough that people want it on their other 'Mechs just means Piranha actually did its job where M.A.S.C. is concerned.

Now: sam-diggity baller-ize jump jets and do something about STD structure, Piranha, and we'll be doing much, much better.

Also why even bother posting when using another game with completely different mechanics to make a vague guess about a feature. Just quit. This post is all kinds of terrible.

I suppose you forgot about the shoot, power-down, manual power-up, shoot, shut-down, ad infinitum, trick exploiting the fact that mechs used to take no damage at all when shut down, even while 500% over the heat limit?

There's a reason they patched the game to make you take damage while overheating, even if shut down.

The game's designers are not infallible all-seeing gods, they can make mistakes sometimes, which makes it very amusing until they close those loopholes. Personally I'm hoping they left a crack that can be exploited, I would love to see the hilarious videos of that being abused.

And I don't even own any Clan mechs, let alone a mech with MASC on it.

I ran my MASC till it hit the red line threshold, and shut it down, apparently even though I shut it down it peaked over the line and the mech to damage. it seems once you reach the line and shut off MASC its to late you will take damage?

The game will register before your button push. The same thing happens with cool shots.

I'm actually kind of surprised how much I like this implementation of MASC. It makes the Exe a unique mech to pilot, but doesn't exactly make it OP. At least as far as I've seen...

However, I think we will need to be on the lookout for anyone who is clever enough to find an exploit for it.
